Experience was pretty average for a 5-star. Had to ask 3 times for luggage to be sent to our room. It eventually arrived 4 hrs after we checked in. Air con was barely cool on max setting. Be sure to make reservations for meals. Restaurant is SUPER-busy.

Don't waste your time with this hotel. I'm a very frequent business traveller, and just stayed here for a couple of night. My experience with the hotel across these couple of days varied between underwhelmed and extremely disappointed. They did nothing well.
It's a nice hotel (physically), but they treat customer service as an afterthought. The staff couldn't possibly have shown less interest in their customers, or delivering the service they'd paid for.
If you do have to stay here, for the love of God don't try to have any meals here.

Very nice hotel. Strangely archaic thermostat in the room - for how nice it is, it's really weird to see a rather inaccurate rotary thermostat (also, the AC in my room was broken).
The shower left the floor rather wet, but as long as you put a towel down it's not too much of an issue.
Great breakfast spread. The hot food was undercooked one day, but fine the other 4, but the cold selection was phenomenal.
The executive lounge had a pretty good selection of beverages. And while the food was good in the executive lounge, it may not be for everyone since it always seemed to be curry based.
The valley guys are great, especially the red head guy, very cordial and remembered who you were, not like most hotel valets where there is almost no interaction.
I didn't eat a ton of room service, but what I got was really good.
Internet speeds were fantastic for a hotel.
View of the river was great as well.
Prime location for a large number of bars and restaurants.

River view room was lovely. Nice view of the river. No view of the story bridge though. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. $10 cocktails from 12.30pm till 6.30 pm on a Friday and Saturday at the Motion Bar & Grill were good value

Great Marriott property with amazing staff. Got a great deal on the room which came with a choice of extras - bottle of wine, some fresh fruit and chocolate. The lounge had an extensive option of breakfast items too - much more than the base Marriott requirements. Smoked salmon, eggs, sausage, fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries and an awesome coffee machine that made just about whatever you wanted. Plus the hotel was right on the river pedestrian path for running, cycling, etc. Only downside in my opinion is the required valet given no other options that I knew of, which was a little expensive. Still a 5 out of 5.
