I really like the Hope & Anchor Tavern since it re-opened, they do really great food and the historic building and decor make it a very welcoming and relaxing spot.

An incredible place with an awesome amount of history and paintings full stop the current service left a lot to be desired under the current management. The food was excellent with very large portions.

Pub is really interesting. Make sure you have a peek upstairs, lots of nick nacks and history. Beer selection is pretty bad and the music was absolutely terrible.

Update: Made the mistake of going back for lunch 6 months later. Still slow, poor, disinterested service. 2 of the 6 orders were wrong and 2 didn't get cutlery
$25 for a thin, chewy piece of T-Bone steak. This place is a joke.
Good menu, good food, good range of drinks. The kitchen is slow and the service is poor. The staff aren't rude but they are noticeably disinterested in you and in doing their job.

So much potential - so disappointing.
We came here for a drink and some dinner on a Sunday evening and were really surprised and let down by most of the experience.
The bar seemed cosy and inviting - and probably would have been - if it were not for the crowd of drongos dominating the room.
I'm no snob, or shrinking violet, but when you've a group of "men" going out of their way to be loud and obnoxious in an obvious attempt to intimidate the other patrons . . . . well, it doesn't really enhance the experience.
The service was painfully slow and unfocused - there was no-one in charge; half of the staff seemed wasted and scatty, the other half either really inexperienced or plain apathetic.
The food was alright - plain and all of it under-seasoned but reasonably tasty and not badly priced.
The space itself looks like it has a lot of history and could be really charming - there's just not a lot of love put in and definitely no reason for me to return. Avoid.
