Shocking company, no customer care or consideration - would never use them again. Provided a car that wouldn't start when we wanted to use it, claimed it was our fault that this had happened. They didn't offer us another car and charged us the full 2 weeks hire despite the fact that we had only driven it to our hotel from the airport. Never returned our phone calls and had no sympathy for our predicament. They went on to re-hire the car out without giving us a car and double dipped. Had to give them 1 star to post this but read it as -*

NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY we ordered a car that their web site stated was "Our fleet of sleek and modern vehicles include" we picked up a clapped out car with almost 200,000km on the clock , the gear box was broken and would not select the right gears , the front passenger seat was broken, the driver seat had a metal bar across the lumbar . we took it back for a replacement and had to wait for a mechanic who was out towing another of their cars so we left and decided to put up with the car as we had already wasted 45 minutes of our short Tassie trip waiting in a line at the airport to collect the car . I own and drive a manual I have been driving for 35 years never have I driven such a piece of rubbish I will never use them again even if the car was free

On a recent trip to Hobart I rented from this company without realising the hidden extras, which amongst other things, included charges for Eftpos; also that the vehicle had really clocked up 173.206 kms!!! Having being taught on a manual car, hired vehicles in many cities worldwide, and driven accident free for over sixty years, I feel I'm a competent driver. On my return to the airport, the vehicle began to smoke, then literally stopped dead in the middle of the highway, after which I was required to push it off the road, single handedly. I called the company, explained the situation and was told a mechanic would be sent to investigate, BUT that I was responsible for costs. The mechanic arrived, inspected the vehicle, confirmed the clutch had died, otherwise everything was in good order. He then left, while I stood on the highway wondering how to get to the airport. Fortunately a vehicle pulled up and I was rescued, at a cost of $50.00, half the price of a taxi. Upon arrival I called my bank, whereupon I was informed that the company had charged $2,000 to my credit card, followed by a further trumped up charges. I spoke to two extremely arrogant assistants at the airport, and explained the problem, to which one replied, "Your problem, not ours!" Apart from the deceit of this company, its staff are obviously not aware or too stupid to realise that the situation could have proved far more serious, or fatal had I not been both physically active, and astute. No acknowledgement has been received regarding the Eftpos charge, nor my transportation costs to the airport. I would advise anybody considering renting from Bargain Car Rentals to think carefully. Rental cars should NOT have accumulated the mileage mine did.

Whilst I did overlook the booking was made for a manual vehicle and required an automatic transmission, there is no fairness in charging the full 3 days. Advise - please be careful when you book (even via Jetstar) or direct and make careful to take an hour at the counter at the airport before you sign anything. Very disappointed. Lesson learnt, not to deal with them in the future. Go to BUDGET humans work there :)
