Manager without any sense of customer service and very bad manners! I have been attending Fernwood Gym in Camberwell in many occasions by purchasing the single visits available at Medibank – Gym Better app, and never had any issues till this date. Yesterday I purchased a pass to attend Fernwood Camberwell, when I arrived there I asked the staff at reception that I would like to sign in, however one of the ladies at the counter told me she was the manager and she never heard of such a thing as Gym Better. I questioned her and as I had done previously, I showed her how it works by pressing the “sign in” icon in the gym better application on my mobile and she said she had no knowledge despite seeing Fernwood Logo on my screen, ultimately not allowing me in. I tried to dialogue, explain but this person completely ignored me. I told her again that I have been attending this Fernwood without a problem and she then said she doesn’t know how I was let in because she doesn’t have any association with the Gym Better Program, and asked me to go away or that I should make an appointment as no one without a membership should be allowed in the premises.
Her behaviour towards me was unacceptable due to the fact that I tried my best to show her that the internet and a mobile application tell me that such arrangements between those organisations exists, even though this person had no idea of its existence.
It was a very unnecessary and humiliating experience, to be asked to leave as if I had done something wrong while all I wanted was just a relaxing one hour workout that is provided by Medibank. At least the Medibank Gym Better customer service acknowledge my complaint however I will NEVER step my foot there ever again, and definitely don't recommend anyone.

Very poor experience with this club! Enough to make me never use any Fernwood club again! I began full time study and therefore couldn't afford to pay during the term of my study. In my attempt to find out more about deferring I was either told to try another form of contact, or they were too busy to talk to me at that time, or I simply didn't receive a response. After no response or resolution to my calls or emails I decided to visit the branch. I was told I would get a call back before my next payment came out, of course that didn't happen! I eventually had the payments blocked by my bank as it was causing me a financial struggle and of course I heard from fern wood recoveries straight away! At this point I had decided the club clearly didn't value me as a member and just wanted to be done with it all and had already contacted the ACCC. After about 2 months, I heard from a female I believe to be the gym owner and was told I would have to pay a $200 cancellation fee. When I explained I would be happy to not pursue my ACCC complaint if I could cancel and incur no further charges due to the inconvenience I was told that because THEY didn't have record of my contact (how is that my fault?!) that I would be incurring a fee still. I wish it ended there....it doesn't.

After emailing through my cancellation request and not hearing anything for 2 months, I have now been contacted by a debt collector chasing a final payment I'm yet to see an invoice for?!?!

Such a shame that rather then acknowledge the inconvenience and stress the poor service and administration has caused me they would rather me take it up with the ACCC and try to get another $200 from me.

Be warned, make sure to get EVERY conversation in writing otherwise they will try to take no responsibility for their lack of response or action.

Don't join!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay away- No respect for customer service/client value.
Disgraceful way to treat people- trying to cancel membership since January - keep taking out fees and refused to acknowledge cancellation advise- big business totally disregarding the individual- definitely don't recommend them at all

Disgusting behaviour from staff! After discovering several HIDDEN FEES I attempted to have a mature conversation with Belinda and was met with hostility and defensiveness. Later, several of my phone calls and emails were ignored. I then emailed the supervisor Kerry, which was also ignored. Finally, I emailed the owner assuming he would be appalled at the way his staff behave, yet this email was also ignored! Unprofessional, sneaky and rude staff who do NOT care about their customers. Avoid this gym at all costs and watch out for the hidden fees that they DO NOT disclose.
