On Tuesday, 31st October at 1.20pm I attended Siri Banyan Thai Massage due to having a spare moment while waiting to pick someone up in Camberwell.
What followed was the most inappropriate and unprofessional massage I have ever had and left me shaken and visibly upset.
I advised that I would like firm pressure and that was confirmed however, what I received was nothing short of the worst pain I have ever had inflicted. I have throughout life completed at a high level in sports and am well aware of deep tissue massage having these on a regular basis by Occupational Therapist and Physio but when the massage therapist stood on my spine and back so hard I could barely breathed I advised her - "too much pressure" to which she ignored me.
Throughout the massage I told her on 3 seperate occasions it was "too hard" and "stop" to which she replied "you will get nothing out of it unless it this hard" and once again ignored my request.
Never have I ever felt the pain caused during or after the massage. I felt that the person delivering the massage abused their power and I left feeling abused and traumatised.
On picking up my sister from her meeting and being so upset we went back to Siri Banyan and advised of the situation.
I have left two further messages for the owner or manager to call me regarding the misconduct of this staff member but not once has anyone called to follow up.
I would advise anyone looking at receiving a treatment to be extremely cautious as not only was I left with a feeling of being assaulted but the area alongside my spine close to my scapular received soft tissue damage.
I understand that I could have got up and left which I should have but I felt vulnerable.
This is purely a word of warning against using a business that seems to not care about client, staff conduct and who have staff who are untrained.
I have reported this business to the Association of Massage Therapists as their conduct is not in line with any professional massage organisation I have encountered in the past.

I really love this place. Going again this evening. They are really welcoming. They do exactly what I ask them to do (usually relaxation massage). I have Sri Banyan to thank for getting a good night's sleep after crazy busy weeks. Thoroughly recommend.

Great massage thank-you to Lilly. Lilly had strong hands and her massage was mindfully & strong, just the way I like it. The rooms were clean and beautifully presented. I highly recommend this place.
