Beautiful hotel and room, but very poor service. We stayed on Tuesday 31/10/17. Ordered room service dinner for 4:30pm as we were going to an early show. Staff guaranteed 4:30pm room service
At 5pm I called reception and enquired about our meal, which eventually arrived at 5:30pm, an hour late. The meal quality was fair, at best. We left our tray outside our room for collection. The following morning our tray was still outside our room! I'm sure the other guests would not have appreciated the fish smell wafting down the hall, or the risk of food poisoning to anyone/child if they had helped themselves to leftover fish and chips. Very poor service for any hotel, especially considering the price we paid.

Great staff. Updated rooms. Good breakfast. Perfect location.

Tiny bathroom.

Great location, nice staff, and, err, did I mention the great location? The location is great, and the best thing about this property is... the location. Right in the centre of The Rocks. Ground zero for tourist central. I had to carry my suitcase up to the third floor as there is no passenger elevator. So make sure you are fit enough to cope with climbing stairs. The hotel has been fitted out in a building designed for another purpose, so don't expect a Sofitel-like experience. It's a niche hotel, in a great location. My room lacked power points. I'm sure if I looked harder, I could find some more, but maybe not. I ironed my shirts in the bathroom, as that was the only power point I could find. If that works for you, happy days. The rooms are an OK size, but my room had no bath. First World problem? Absolutely. But bear in mind that this building is a conversion, and compromises have been made. Charm? Yes! Location? Yes! Character? Yes! Modern hotel amenities? Err, did I mention the great location? The staff are charming, the place oozes character, but set your expectations before you check in. You are trading a great location for amenities that you might expect in a three star hotel, like power points, let alone a four star hotel. I will draw a bell over some in-room issues that I had which maybe been unique to my visit or my room, and say that I enjoyed my stay, but other visitors should manage their expectations so that you are not disappointed. PS, did I mention the great location?

The place is beautiful but the staff we dealt with were unfriendly and borderline hostile. The lady (her name might have been Priya?) who checked us in was completely unwelcoming from the beginning and then it got worse when we tried to have a drink at the bar later that evening. She barely paid attention to us as we stood at the bar (where we were the only people in the whole place ). She was busy complaining about staff to someone when we politely asked for a cocktail only to be aggressively told that they weren't doing any of the cocktails (with no explanation actually given). It would've been fine but the bartender next to her was making cocktails right in front of us. We were very confused as to why she was being so hostile to us but we just accepted it and thanked her for the wine we opted for instead anyway (because we're nice people). I understand that customer service can weigh a bit heavy on staff as I work in customer service, but I never let my mood or experiences with other customers affect how I treat people. I expected more and it was a bit of a shame as it was my birthday too! Based on how she dealt with the other guests, I just don't think she took us seriously despite us being quiet, respectful guests.

Great location near The Rocks Markets & eateries. The customers service is excellent. However the room was disappointing and not user friendly. The TV can only be viewed when in bed and not from the lounge. There is a shelf above the vanity so you can't wash your face or brush your teeth easily. The toilet is in a tiny corner & the toilet roll holder is touching your hip. Our door card failed 4 times & I had to climb 3 floors of stairs each time to have it reset. Otherwise it was fine! A bit overpriced though. We will stay at The Four Seasons Hotel up the road next time for the same money.
