A great place to visit with very friendly and passionate staffs, the house tour gives you a full story on the life of May Gibb, her inspirations, her struggles and how her brilliant works come about. No photos allowed in the house (for copyright reasons) and the house entry is only via the guided tour so please check before your visit, there is no parking around the house so best to come via public transport.
To make a half day trip for it, arrive by train, hop off at the Milson Point train station, grab some brunch if necessary (Nutcote opens at 11am and the first house tour starts almost right away), takes a leisurely walk (around 1.6 km - 20 mins), arrive at Nutcote by 11am. After the visit (roughly around 1.5 hours), get some lunch around Neutral Bay Ferry Wharf (recommended an excellent and cheap Thai restaurant - Ta Ta Thai) and take a ferry back to Circular Quay.
The suburb of Neutral Bay where the house is located is stunning so please allow some extra time to explore.

Wonderful little historic house down on the harbour at Neutral Bay. Catch the Ferry to Neutral Bay Wharf, do not get off at the next wharf (Kurraba Point wharf) as there are over 100 steps to climb!
The shop is full of lovely Australian gifts and all the volunteers are very friendly and informative. May Gibbs wrote Snugglepot and Cuddlepie and was a very talented illustrator.
All money spent goes back to the upkeep of the Museum so you can feel happy paying to take a tour. Afterwards we walked to Cremorne Point to catch a ferry back and is a wonderful way to see Sydney on the North Shore. Perfect day out for families.
