I stay at Meininger twice a year and usually have a good experience. the staff are always nice and helpful. This time the rooms were a bit disappointing. In my room (303) the heat was not working. The man on staff at check in did try to help fix it, but couldn't. There were no rooms available to switch to. I used 2 duvets and was okay. My colleagues staying in room 304 found that their bathroom smelt very bad. They discovered a dirty baby's diaper had been left behind so whomever had cleaned the room didn't empty the trash. it was pretty gross.
Otherwise it was a good stay and I would stay there again

Very friendly/helpful staff. Good price and close to train station. I liked that they have a phone for guest use. Their common kitchen could use some work - wasn't very clean, clean cups were all dirty inside. No sink so had to take kettle to bathroom to fill, which is gross. Could use lockable storage lockers in dorms as well.

Great location and friendly staff, however it would have been nice if the staff would say something about the city at c/i. Also nothing about the hotel facilities were mentioned, which I think was a shame. The room was clean.

Meininger hostel is a great place to stay in Vienna. It is very large and is the nicest hostel I've ever stayed in, as it looks more like a hotel (but has the cheap prices of a hostel).
I shared with 2 other girls that I didn't know, and the room was plenty big enough for all 3 of us.
Would definitely recommend if you want to stay in Vienna on the cheap whilst not sacrificing your comfort :)

We liked this hostel and think it's one of the better ones in Vienna. The people who worked here were great and super helpful. Our room was pretty nice and clean, including the bathroom. The only thing I would wish for is a cleaner mini kitchen area and a hot water kettle.
