The hostel is located in the safe district in Salvador - BARRA. We felt comfortable there.
We found Pelourinho very unsafe and way too touristy, that's why we decided to move after the first night in Pelourinho to Barra.
They have cute hammock patio where you can chill out after the hard day on the beach :)
Just 8min walk to the beach where we were surfing and 10min to the other beach where you can sunbath, swim or snorkel.
Allan serves great caipirinhas (the first one was for free).
Safe, chilled and friendly.
We will be back for sure.

I have had the pleasure of staying at this hostel 4 times. Great set-up and location. Staff is cordial and will help you coordinate activities around the city. Check it out!

During a long travel, my experiences in various hostels were - mmmh, let´s say not only good..
And as I wanted to enjoy my last four weeks I made a intensive research about Hostels in Salvador. After reading tons of reviews I decided to have a look at the Barra-Guest-Hostel - and it was the best decision I could have made! From the very first moment the familiar atmosphere let me feel not beeing in a hostel but at home. The rooms are perfectly cleaned every day and every room has a seperate bathroom with a standard I only knew from good hotels. The same with the breakfest: every morning the day started perfectly with a huge breakfest where I never missed anything. The friendly staff was helpful in every situation and the whole team seemed to be there only for me. Whenever I had a question or needed some information I had the answer before I could ask ;-). And when I was bit ill I even had a better treatment than in a hospital.
Additionally the Hostel is located perfectly between two beaches and the main sights of salvador are easily and fast to reach. It´s also a very safe place with nice restaurants and bars around the corner. The bus-stop is just 5 minutes to walk and from there I made some nice trips to places that Keyko (the sweetheart of the Hostel) recommended and I never would have found by myself. And I really recommend to do at least one of the tours to must-been-places around salvador which are also completely organized for the guests by the Hostel.
All together I will never forget this wonderful time and I will come back for sure - because when I had to leave the Barra-Guest-Hostel I had to leave my home.
