They do awesome work and great service every time I am there. I have been to several places and the gel overlay tends to lift but not at The Fixx. I have banged my hand on numerous occasions and they didn't crack or break!

I bought a living social coupon and made an appointment for my mother and I. They took a walk in so started us late, but we were ok to wait. My mom was taken first and her technician spent a lot of time with her and seemed to be doing a good job. My technician took me in 20 mins after yet my mani pedi was done at the same time. My technician rushed through my service and didn't really take much care. However the worst part was both of us had our nail polish come off later that same day. Within 2 days all the nail colour had naturally flaked off and this never happens, sloppy job. They also charged us an extra $20 per person on top of the taxes and tip we paid. Saying the surcharge was listed on the coupon. I couldn't find that surcharge listed anywhere. All in all a disappointing experience and I wouldn't recommend this place.

I have nothing positive to say about The Fixx.
I found them through a Living Social deal - $55 would get "sculpture gel manicure with one fill-in" (quoted directly from the Living Social deal).
First off, Shea (the esthetician) was ten minutes late. Second, they used tips, which I wasn't expecting. Since the wording was sculpture, I was expecting sculpted nails, not tips. Third, the appointment took 2 hours, which is the longest nail appointment I have ever had. Had the nails been great, then it would have been worth it, however, that's not the case.
The nails began lifting off from the tips (gel separating from the nail tip) almost immediately - I made it home and noticed. I was in on a Thursday afternoon (July 21), and phoned Saturday morning to make an appt for them to be fixed. 9 of 10 nails were separating already. I went in Tuesday pm (July 26), and while Shea did my nails (and would then also be doing my fill), Vanessa did the repairs. I had already lost 3 nails by this point, and the other 7 were now lifting/separating. Vanessa took an hour, and while she didn't file the nails completely off to start from scratch, she did say that she rebonded them all, and that none of the nails would have any problems anymore.
By Saturday (July 30), four of the nails were separating again, 1 of which was one of the nails Vanessa had to redo completely. By the following Sunday (Aug 6), I had lost 2 nails (less than 2 weeks after having them done), and by Wednesday (Aug 10 - 2 wks 1 day) I had lost every single nail. I was on holidays and so couldn't go get them fixed. I sent an email to let them know that while the Living Social stated a fill was free, it would need to be a full-set since none of the nails lasted.
I set up an appointment for today, and again stated when I phoned that the fill would need to be a full set since the nails didn't survive. When I arrived for my appointment, I was told Joanna was on her way. Johanna was 10 minutes late, no apology. She then proceeded to tell me that since the fill was supposed to be with Shea, and Shea was away, Joanna would do the full set and I would only have to pay the difference between fill and full ($20). I said that I would not be paying anything when the previous nails didn't last, and I wasn't aware I wasn't booked with Shea. Joanna then stated that since the first set with Shea didn't stay on, the second set likely wouldn't either, and she can't stand by Shea's work, but only her own work. I was told that I'm welcome to rebook for when Shea is back for the free nails. I told Joanna that both Shea and Vanessa did my nails, neither did a good job, and why would I ever return to a salon that can't stand by their work. She repeated that she stands by her own work, she's a senior tech, and Shea is new. Joanna repeatedly stated that she can't guarantee Shea's work, and that if the first set for me didn't last, she doesn't see why a second set done by Shea would be any better. I have had my nails done for years, and I have never had nails done this poorly, by two different people no less, until now.
I left without getting my nails done, and will absolutely not recommend The Fixx to anyone. A salon should stand by their employees, their product, and make things right when a service fails. To say or do anything else is completely inappropriate in my opinion. I absolutely did not get the service I paid for, and my time was completely wasted. The esthetician was late in two of the three appointments I made. Parking downtown is expensive, and this salon has nothing to recommend it.

A friend convinced me to try getting my nails done. One salon lied to me about gel nails, and glued down tips with acrylic powder. The second salon I went to told me they couldn't removed the tips/acrylic (I would have to wait for them to grow out), and just put a thick layer of gel over top. My nails were a mess.

I booked an appointment with Fixx. Two girls worked on me. One expertly removed the layers of horror from my nails, and explained in detail what she was doing, and how gel should properly be applied. She then gave me flawless gel tips. The next girl shaped my nails, checking them meticulously herself before she asking If I was happy. She took her time suggesting colours and tips for my gel polish.

Everyone was incredible friendly and talented. I received multiple compliments on my nails and even a couple of weeks later there is minimal wear and tear on them. I will definitely be a regular.
