My own vet Westboro (see my review) was unable to see my ferret as my vet (a ferret expert Cheryl Laite) was not in. Lynwood was recommended. I tried them after finding Boyd and Carling were unavailable. My ferret who had just last Sat saw her vet had an irritated throat an ongoing issue for a few months (x-rays bloodwork normal so it was thought to be an irritation) but this time her slightly swollen throat and breathing appeared worse. I was given an appointment within hours. They even held the time open when I would be late. I was asked fact finding questions a file was set up on the phone with me my regular vet was contacted and info on bloodwork etc was sent ALL THIS BEFORE I EVEN ARRIVED! Though? VERY. I felt comforted listened to and in very good hands. I will say having up to date and very good respected and well known family owned vet care may have worked in my favour (Thank you Westboro Animal Hospital led by Dr. Ian Cameron) yet Lynwood deserves praise for the lady I met who has more than a passing knowledge on ferrets (thank you Dr Erin Harrison) she left me informed and assured. I was not overcharged my up to date care may have something to do with that yet was not taken advantage of. As you know when your furbaby is ill you will do everything. My Rose is now on two antibiotics for a ferret virus or infection) (NO reflection on other vets. I am lucky that her symptoms are mild enough to raise no real concerns) she will go back in a few weeks and all I am sure it will be okay and I will know if it occurs again WHAT TO DO. Thanks again.

This hospital may be good with some animals but not with dogs. Our dog almost died while in their care just over 1 year ago. First, they did not vaccinate him for lyme, even though he is a large outdoor breed therefore at risk. Second, he was sick with lyme as I learned later, and even though I mentioned to them he had recently been bitten by ticks they did not offer to run the quick and inexpensive DX4 test. Every time I was there it felt they were more interested in my money than in the well being of my dog. Compared to other veterinary clinics, they charged me almost double for the same service or medication.

I was looking for an avian vet, I have a duck at the farm needing help. Dr Roscoe was refereed to me by by a friend. And I was helped right away. Unbelievable service. Thank you so very much.

If you have pet rats, Lynwood is hands down the best place in Ottawa to take them. Every one of the vets I've encountered have had an encyclopedic knowledge of rat health issues. The base price for a visit is marginally higher than other Ottawa area vets, but for that small premium you really get the best care from veterinarians who have a specialty in exotic/small mammal healthcare.
Not to drag anyone's name through the mud, I have been to other vets who claim to know exotics, but short of basic antibiotic treatment for bog standard respiratory infections in pet rats, I've lost confidence in a number of area vet clinics with regards to treatment of exotics specifically. Lynwood, by contrast, is everything I could ask for (honorable mention to Carling Animal Hospital, they've been pretty great) and will always be my go-to vet in spite of the Bells' Corners location being a bit out of the way for me (and my rats!) living in the downtown core. It is absolutely worth it.
