Our experience with McEwen Animal Hospital was tragic. We experienced malpractice on two separate occasions, with two different cats, one which resulted in a late-night emergency visit, and the other resulted in death. Here is the story of each of them:
1) In one case, we brought our cat in with what appeared to us as a bladder infection. The cat would scream out in pain when urinating. The vet told us the cat was fine and let us go without giving us any antibiotics. Later that evening, the cat started urinating blood, so we took him immediately to an emergency vet clinic, where the cat was diagnosed with a severe bladder infection and the emergency staff seemed shocked that he hadn't been treated with antibiotics.
2) In the other case, our other cat suddenly stopped eating, so we took him to the vet. The vet took x-rays which revealed that his intestinal track was blocked with stool, but despite this, the vet prescribed steroids and antibiotics, but did not prescribe any laxatives. That was on a Saturday. When we brought the cat in to see the vet for a follow up on Monday, there was a different vet on duty who told us that the cat was just severely constipated and that we should have given him laxatives days ago. He suggested that the cat be hospitalized for an enema. So we left him there, and two hours later, we received a phone call informing us that the cat had died during the administration of the enema. This seems like a case of malpractice to us - he shouldn't have died from such a standard procedure.

I drive 6 hours to come back to McEwen. The vets are so knowledgeable. They actually take the time to explain and answer any questions I have. My dog loves them both. I've been to other vets and nothing at all compares.

Second time going here to get wet food for my cat. He sat in the chair didn't even say hello. Terrible customer service. Crappy attitude. The older woman just scowls. Obviously don't enjoy their job.
