A few years ago, I was looking to replace my barbeque with something good. I went to Porky's and they told me that if I spent $5000 - $6000 on their Vermont Castings grill, it would be the last grill I would ever have to buy. They convinced me through the all-inclusive lifetime warranty and citing the superior construction of the unit.
I bought the unit and used it without issues for a few years, until I went to clean it out this spring. I discovered that the grease tray underneath the barbeque had rusted out. I took the tray out and took it in to Porky's where, when they saw me coming in with this grease tray, stopped me and asked me what I needed.
I told them about having purchased the barbeque there and the lifetime warranty and the now rusty grease tray, which I wanted to get replaced. It was then that they told me that Vermont Castings had gone bankrupt within weeks of my having purchased the barbeque and that the person who bought the company bought the name only, so no parts or service - and no warranty was ever available for this barbeque.
To add insult to injury, she SOLD me a small package of tinfoil pans for $10.00 to help catch the mess that was not being made when we cooked on the grill.
There was no consideration or even the least bit of compassion for the situation. They got my $6000 and I got considerably less value than what they sold me and I left feeling like they were saying, you should know better! I certainly will next time I shop for a barbeque.
Now, I wouldn't have written this review if I hadn't just experienced another aggravating situation with Porky's.
My hot tub has run its course and I am not looking to spend another $15000 on a new one so I thought I would look at used hot tubs that are a couple of years old. I found a Sundance that I went to look at and one of the pumps did not work. I found out that Porky's is the place for Sundance, so I called them. I got a girl on the phone and I asked for a service tech. The girl said she would be the one I speak to.
I told her that I was looking at a second hand hottub and that one of the pumps was not working. I explained the situation and what I thought and I was looking for some guidance as what it could possibly be, so that I could be a better informed buyer.
After all of this, the girl now decides she is NOT the person I should speak to but that I needed a technician, however she would not let me speak to a technician for his opinion on this but rather I had to book a service call where the tech would come and assess and fix the problem - ONLY OPTION!!
I explained numerous times that I did not own it and I was considering purchasing it and that I was merely looking for an opinion, in order to be better informed as to the value of the spa. She just didn't care - she kept pushing me to make an appointment to get this spa that I didn't even own looked at.
Seems I am finished with Porky's - they just don't care!!
