I give this place five stars because it serves all the benefits of a five star in the sense that it's location is primo, there's daily breakfast, the price is Super affordable, the rooms are very well kept and there are no bedbugs.

This place's got a hitler's-bunker-in-1945 feel to it...dark, full of underground mazes, no working tv or even windows in certain rooms...staffers cheap, old, french-speaking, with litttle or no understanding of english....time stopped there in 1985 which seems to be corroborated by the beer bottles stacked up against the walls.

For the price it was fantastic. Rooms small and beds as hard as a rock. Maybe bring an extra blanket or sheet if you can to make it softer. The lady and young guy are butt heads but the men were very kind. Breakfast is simple but very good. If you have a small issue with your room and can tell the cleaning ladies directly, I'd do that. They are sweethearts.
I checked everywhere and there were no bed bugs.

Location is fine. The rooms are cozy. The staff is nice enough. Don't expect too much though. The walls are thin, the floors creek, and the a/c is only for show. Two nights on to the stat here now and have had to keep the window cracked and wake up to the seagulls screeching. But there is a fridge and some basic cable, so it's not all bad.

I was originally supposed to be at this hotel with a group of friends until they alerted us that we will be staying at their sister hotel across the street. This didn't seem like such a huge issue because it was right across the street and it was a busy weekend. BUT I had a lot of stuff stolen at the hotel they transferred us to. The staff provided me with the security footage inside the building except for the hours I said the robbery could have happened. Every member of the staff gave me a different answer as to why that was. I talked to the owner and he said "this doesn't happen" and offered no sort of apology. It was very shady. The beds are extremely uncomfortable and there was no air vent in my room which made it very stuffy. There were tissues and crumbs on the ground when I arrived at the hotel. Find a different hotel to stay at because saving the extra money isn't worth it when you have $2000+ worth of stuff stolen. I had to spend my vacation dealing with the police instead of enjoying the lovely city.
