Place is OK if you are looking for a one or two nights sleep.
Building is old as expected and it lacks some maintenance. Breakfast is very simple, but that was also expected.
Positive highlight is the staff. They are helpful and friendly.

The location of this hotel was great! It was less than a mile walk to the Notre Dame Bassilica.
Everything seemed clean and the staff was friendly and spoke good English.
The downsides of the location was the questionable neighborhood and the lack of parking. You have to pay $20 for parking if you can't find some on the crowded street. And, being downtown, there are lots of homeless people everywhere.
It was also very small. We had to sit sideways on the toliet because otherwise our knees touched the wall. The shower was so small I could barely turn around.
The beds were nice though there was a hole in our bedspread.
The hotel did have a fun, homey, old feel to it. And there was very pretty art on the walls.
I would stay there again if I had to, but I'm sure there is better out there for a better price.

I am still staying here as I write this... So far it has been very good. The only hiccup was the front desk clerk who treated us very poorly when we arrived to check in. But, she has since made good effort to make it up to us. I will re-rate when we leave. The rooms were clean, the price was right, we are within walking distance of several fun areas.

As someone said in previous comments, THIS PLACE GETS THE JOB DONE! It is not a 5star hotel, the room is small, the bathroom and shower is small, it has a stuffy smell in the room, it is simple. The reason it gets four out of five stars is because of the staff and service. They are super accommodating from allowing us to leave our luggage in their office both when we got there and on our last day (arrived at 8am and had to wait to check in at 2pm, check out at 11am and bus was to leave at 11:30pm). Some big fancy hotels don't even give you a glass of water. Hotel Viger gave us coffee, orange juice and a croissant every morning. On the last day, my girlfriend and I decided we wanted to sleep in and they allowed us to pay a little over $60 US to stay a whole other night if we wanted to. Room was clean everyday, if we needed extra towels and what not we got it, it is located near everything you need to be around to enjoy Montreal, it got the job done. I would definitely use their services again.

Gets the job done! Really small rooms but it's able to fit the bed(s) and that's what matters most! Given the lack of space, I'm very appreciative that they decided to provide a nice sized restroom. One of our towels was stained brown and another had a hole, which made the place feel a bit more questionable. However, overall they provide a clean atmosphere that's great for the price and location.
