I have large complaint that i would like to issue.
I rented a vehicle in St. Johns, Newfoundland from Oct 13th to 16th, 2016 last week when i was in attendance of work related conference.
I had rented from the location on Topsail rd. and was given very wrong directions. We given these options for returning the car:
a.) we could drop it off at the same location
b.) we could drop it off at the Kentmount Rd location
c.) or finally the airport for a charge.
Karen the staff who helped us, verbally indicated that we could drop it off at the airport and they would charge us a fee of $50 for that. My colleagues and i (4 of us) decided that it would be better to pay the $50 and drop it off at the airport for convenience.
When Sunday came and we dropped the car off. we went straight to the airport and parked the rental, only to discover that there was no drop off site for Discount Car rentals at St. John's Airport. We spoke will the car rental kiosks there and the information center and discovered that service doesn't exist at the airport.
So, i had to grab the car rental and rush to Kenmount Rd. location and drop it off and of course it's Sunday and they were not open till noon. Finally we rushed and took a cab back to the airport. Thankfully we literally just made it onto the plane. Any slight delay and we would have missed our flight to get home across the country.
This is extremely poor service and false information. The 4 of us heard the same thing and had the same understanding. When this discussion occurred at the Topsail Rd. location Karen told us wrong information and we had clarified the process. She indicated it would be an additional $50 charge. I am not sure where that number amount even came from and whether she just made that up. Zack and Aaron are the 2 other staff that were present in the same little office and were apart of the entire conversation yet not one of them corrected this incorrect process and $50 charge explanation.
This was such an unnecessary inconvenience and unnecessary stress. I am certain you can empathize if this had occurred to you what that would have been like to go through the same ordeal we had to. Believe me if this we had missed our flight this would have not finished well. Instead we suffered and got on the plane just in time, sweaty and panicked. We had a full day of travel to return to Alberta, so any delay and it would have resulted likely in an overnight delay.
Needless to say, this review will start off on google and likely other social media outlets to warn customers.
I would hate for anyone to miss their flight because of poor communication, staff training, and service. Just so you know almost every other company does have a drop off service at the st. john's airport but not Discount.
