Best pricing for rental in Toronto. I used my membership through Aeroplan to get a great discount price.
The car was perfect for me - Standard size, I believe. Nissan Sentra. Super on gas and a pleasure to drive.
No charge for pickup downtown and drop-off at airport.
Staff friendly and helpful. Even helped me load my heavy suitcases out of trunk onto a cart, which they brought to me.
I would definitely recommend Avis.

Horrible return experience, where to start? Avis, please look after these ASAP: 1) put signage on the return location, lost 40mins searching and $15 car park and walking around the mall 2) space to actually return the car, place was full 3) have your printer in working condition for the receipt 4) have your own people fetch a receipt to the sales counter instead of sending me to queue all over again 5) making sure I don't need 90mins to get the car returned upon arrival, with and late to my customer appointment 6) get your people to actually listen and prioritize my incident instead of making me queue again because they need to look after their normal job.

Tl;Dr: These guys are total scam artists.

I made a call to the Avis Kingston Airport location inquiring about a one way rental to Toronto, as my car had broken down. I informed them that I may be later than their closing time of 4PM since I was waiting for a tow truck, and was told that it wouldn't be an issue at all provided I wasn't arriving too long after 4PM. I subsequently called at 3PM and again at 3:40PM updating my status, while being reassured that someone was waiting for me with a car. Luckily, I thought, I arrived at 3:55pm only to find that they had closed for the day. Ultimately, someone came back to the location due to another customer with a late pickup and that is what saved me as far as getting a car.

I was informed that 80 Bloor Street East, Toronto, was my drop off location and I would be charged at a rate of $35/day plus additional fees. We agreed that it was a good price and I left. When I arrived at 80 Bloor Street East, approximately 1AM, the vehicle I was rented was too large to fit in the parking lot. I returned the next morning at approximately 10:20AM, and the staff was quick to tell me that, despite my agreement, they were not going to take my vehicle since it did not fit, and that it would be my responsibility to bring it somewhere else. I told them that under no circumstance would I bring it anywhere other than where I had agreed to take it initially. They reluctantly closed my rental.

They then informed me that the total cost would be close to $500, at a daily rate of $350. I was never quoted that and never agreed to that price. They called the Kingston branch to verify, and the owner(?) told me that they made a mistake on the quote and that was too bad for me and am still liable to the 10x increased day rate.

I received my invoice and it reflects the $350/day and $65/hr. My agreement shows, in three places, $35/day and $95/hour. Additionally, it shows my drop off location as College Street Avis, so as you can see the two documents are awash with discrepancies.

Upon speaking to an Avis Canada customer service representative on the phone, he informed me that he only sees an agreement to bring the vehicle to the Toronto Pearson Airport location at $350/day, and I have no idea where this location came into play as neither of the documents state this one. I can only be led to believe that the owner(?), upon realizing his mistake, attempted to conceal the initial estimate.

Then AVIS corporate said they won't help me since AVIS EMPLOYEES MOVED THE DROPOFF LOCATION.

One of THE WORST customer experiences I have have ever encountered. Incompetent staff who don't care whatsoever about their customers. Go somewhere else.

And responding to this comment to call the generic North America Customer service phone #, is a testament to how little they care about their customers.

I forgot an item in my rental car, called back immediately the next day and was assured someone at the location would check the car for me. Didn't hear back from them all day, until I called back and was told by one of the attendants that he was "too busy to help me". Later found out they didn't check the car, and had already sent the car off to the airport.

I don't understand how anyone can treat a customer who just paid >$600 for a weekend worth of cars, and close to $15k/year renting for business like this. I am literally switching to another provider, despite having the highest status, because of how poorly they handle a customer situation. Highly recommend choosing a different provider.

I used to rent from another rental company in the same area but one day I decided to give Avis a try and I was hooked. Great customer service. Very accommodating. I wish they would have ALL the Avis App features available at this location. That would be amazing!!!!
