I would like to make sure that people do not get bought in to just the positive reviews. Maybe they do a great job with regular check ins and things, but I had a really bad experience and wish I received a different perspective, so here goes.
My dog had an eye issue, so we brought him here, but after multiple visits and lots of $$$, he is still not healed and the ultimate prognosis is an expensive surgery that Dr. Oscar can't perform. He could've gotten to that conclusion sooner, but drew it out and got as much money as he could before we got to that stage. After mentioning all the overage in charges, he agreed to refund the prescription writing fees and said we probably should just go direct to the specialist...which probably should have been mentioned several hundreds of dollars prior.
Be warned, if he doesn't make money selling you prescriptions at a high markup, he will make sure to charge you for each prescription he writes. When I questioned him about this, he justified that we would not know what to give our dog if it wasn't for him. It cost nothing for him to recommend medication if he did not have it. He also wrote down medication that the pharmacy did not have for that fee, so that just shows how much he knows.
From $70 for a topical cream, which you probably can just get away with polysporin, like we did to $150 for sedation so that he could do an eye exam, everything really added up with limited results. He even sedated our dog when he probably shouldn't have because our dog ate before the visit and he did not even go over that with us. When we spoke to a friend later, we found out that he probably shouldn't have done that.
Ask a lot of questions, because he will sell you on tests and medication.
Overall terrible experience. I felt Dr. Oscar was knowledgable enough, but at the end of the day, he is 100% one of those vets that cares about the $$$. The care is average, the vet staff is friendly, but the rip off is real.

Everyone at the Sherbourne hospital is amazing. They are kind to you and your pet, they don't push any thing on to you, their prices are fair and again I cannot stress enough how kind and supportive they are. I am lucky to have found them.
