The beauty of a store like Talk's Cheap is it's existence is decidedly defiant to the current cultural milieu: a new record store in 2010+ is in itself an anomaly, but one that laughs in the face of commerce and is so uncompromising in its trade is straight up unheard of.
And that trade is punk rock. The Pacific Northwest of the 6Ts; The NY, UK, and KBD of the 7Ts; The hardcore, power pop and post-punk of the 8Ts; the garage revival of the 9Ts and onward...real punk rock.
The store exists as a cultural space for all the above, as well as classic movie posters and always changing art shows...not to mention the many gigs the shop books and sponsors.

Great little shop right in downtown Victoria. If you are record shopping in Victoria this is a must stop place. The owner is great to have conversations with on practically any topic of music. Great niche selection of records and you will be surprised with what you find. Everyone I have brought here has found something or had great things to say about Talk's Cheap. Also upstairs is "Monster Party" furthering the cool stuff to see at this store!
