This is the best animal hospital in the city. One of our cats had a chronic urinary problem for a while and we took him to a couple different animal hospitals for 4 times. It costed us over $1,000 but the problem was never resolved. We then sent him to Corydon Animal Hospital which was strongly recommended by friends. The staff there were very friendly and the doctors were very knowledgeable. My cat's urinary problem was solved after only one visit.
They care about your pets and they know what they are doing. I trust them!

The staff (specifically the manager) has agreed that they made multiple procedural/process errors (or mistakes) with our pet's surgery, yet she refused to answer our concerns and stated that all that occurred “does not require corrective action.” We took our case to AAHA who said that although we received significantly horrible customer service, no medical standards were breached in their defence. The manager, Kellie treated us horribly from the start. She has never met/spoken to us, yet her first email told us to “look for care elsewhere”, not really professional managerial skills in our opinion. After multiple emails, she admitted to multiple errors/mistakes but still showed no empathy (instead implied that we were negligent parents). Her treatment of us to had no regard for our dog, as well as us (the hospital’s clients) who are also a part of a pet’s care.
We had the following concerns with the procedure for our dog’s surgery:

1) We got 2 estimates (1 low, 1 high). When my partner dropped off our dog, the receptionists gave a new and highest estimate with "optional" bloodwork, stating the critical nature of this diagnostic test and how it could mean life or death. We felt "ambushed" as likely no pet owner could say no minutes before a surgery. The clinic failed to give us ample time to make an informed decision and coerced our authorization for this treatment. When my partner expressed his concern about being presented with something of critical nature minutes before his surgery, the staff said, "it's no big deal." To which my partner said, "it is a big deal, because if he dies, that's on me for $150." He asked if there was time to consult with myself and staff said, "no, he has to go now." The manager took multiple emails back and forth (inclusive of blaming us for negligence), telling us to just "seek care elsewhere", refused to give us answers to questions before stating that she now realizes their normal procedure of including the bloodwork in an estimate weeks prior was not followed in our case and apologized, but still insisted that they got signed authorization from us anyway, failing to address how this authorization was given unwillingly. She refused to do anything more but apologize.

2) Our dog returned to us with nails trimmed too short where dried blood was observed on each one of them, as well as occasional intermittent bleeding occurring. Kellie agreed they did this without permission. She said it is complimentary and they've never had complaints so this is why it's ok. They never informed us nor documented that they did this... as a result we didn't know to monitor it. Kellie outlined the critical nature of our dog's bleeding and implied it was likely negligence on our part for not bringing him back. She failed to address how they never asked permission, documented nor told us they did this in the first place.

3) Our dog was returned to us with 2 front teeth removed, rather than the back molar which was the reason for the procedure. The vet explicitly stated she would call us and ask for approval before removing any different or more teeth. She did apologize for the mistake of not calling but said she did what she felt was best for our dog. When this was forwarded to Kellie, she stated that because the additional procedures performed were under the highest estimate that we gave them authorization for, they are allowed to perform anything they want on our dog without permission. We understand emergencies happen but are very concerned with this being this clinic's normal practice for non-emergent situations.

Kellie informed us that this practice inclusive of all the mistreatment that occurred with our dog and her right to close our relationship when she foresees no solutions to our concerns (which was right form the start) is within the accreditation standards. Although, on the multiple occasions she attempted to "close our discussion and push us out the door" she apologized and admitted to more faults/errors on their clinics part. Hoping others don't have to endure this mistreatment.

Truly loving and nurturing! Dr Madill is akin to Dr Doolittle in that I think he and my cat have some sort of special communication only they understand. She is always incredibly relaxed in his presence. Very accommodating, kind and caring staff.
