As someone who grew up here during the era of violence and stuff I was really blown away by how much the city had changed! I spent a couple hours in plaza botero and the plaza itself is beautiful with world famous statues and lots of flowers. There are cathedrals and churches that make it look very classic and beautiful. I was walking around with a nice watch and an iPhone 7+ against the warnings of many and never did I feel unsafe. Everyone seemed happy and there was plenty of police presence reassuring everyone that you can come here and enjoy the great views

Nice place to see Botero's sculptures, however in the afternoon it's kind of crowd and unfortunately, the zone is not as safe as it should be.

A wonderful place filled worth Botero sculptures, delightful local hot foods and snacks and many street vendors of fruits, snacks, cold drinks, and souvenirs. Don't buy from the first street vendor you see...look around a bit, see what they all have and how much they are charging, then bargain with the ones that have what you like. 10-20% off is a typical negotiated price.
