Worst company ever. When we received the car the guy explained everything very well and we inspected the car together. But with turning the car in they turned out to be frauds. They came with 2 guys and one of them directly went to the trunk and grabbed the bag with the triangle and stuff and opened it and displayed all that was in. Than he stepped away from the car and the other guy inspected the car. When he was finished he said he was going to charge use for a broken triangle. Okay at that point I loose control because this bag was never opened! The guy who delivered the car only showed us the bag and said what was in it so at that point we didn't had the idea of opening it and checking it. I told him to call the guy who delivered us the car to confirm he didn't showed what was in the bag. And I explained that I didn't use the triangle or even opened the bag for the whole trip. When I didn't brake anything I don't want to pay for it even when it was only 15 usd. He couldn't reach the guy and said we had to pay. Than it got a little bit out of hand and normally I can stay calm but he was pissing me of by saying that I had to understand his position. BS! understand my position that I'm charged for something I didn't break. So I was trowing 20 usd at him and told him to leave but he couldn't accept cash and got mad. At that point my wife took over the conversation and I went to the lobby of the hotel. At that point I started googling for reviews of this company. They were "surprisingly" bad. Than I read the same story from an other reviewer that I was in at that time. He also had to pay for a triangle he didn't broke. Exactly the same story. At that point I got furious and went back and showed him the review. The only thing he could say now was to calm down or he would call the police. Just the same line as the other reviewer mentioned. We had to go to the airport so we didn't have the time to get the police in or else I had certainly done it. Eventually my wife paid with credit card and after that they immediately ripped the document papers and copy of my credit card so they couldn't charge me for anything anymore. I assured them that I would leaf a negative review about this company but he didn't seem to care about that. What a great personal(thief's) you have Mapache! I also informed the travel agency(best ever!) about this and assured me to discuss this issue with Mapache. It was only 15 usd but for something I didn't do it is 15 usd to much! Costa Rica is absolutely a great and beauty full country to go to and everything we did and everything we saw was something to never forget. I truly recommend you to go to Costa Rica but just don't hire your car at Mapache!.

Everything fine. Pretty much what you expect from a rent a car. Good customer service.

Don't ever use these crooks. I Terrible service upon return. Charged for triangles that were broken upon receipt of the car. Then when argue stating they had never been open or used said they will call the police and be done with us along with taking the full deposit.

Get ready for an ass raping with no Vaseline, folks. They offer you multiple levels of car insurance coverage when you rent your car. What they don't tell you is that if you opt for the minimum state required coverage, you have to pay a $5,000 security deposit that has to clear on one card, it cannot be split in to multiple cards. So, a $10/day car rental turns in to a $70/day car rental after they force the full coverage option on you and on top of that, you still have to pay a $1000 security deposit. Although the ticket agent was courteous while butt raping me, the company policies left me never wanting to see a Mapache again.
