The Maritim Hotel is well situated and in close proximity to shops, subway and some of the best restaurants in Berlin. The bookstore across the street Dussmann das KulturKaufhaus houses a little gem of a restaurant downstairs called Upspring where you can get a fabuluous breakfast reasonably priced.
Although the hotel is clean, I found the decor dated and in need of a major renovation - think modern 80's. The shower curtain in the bathroom was also starting to smell musty (which is why it received 4 stars).

Recently attended a 2 day conference at the Maritim proArte Hotel. The facilities are excellent the place is spacious within a good location. During the conference breakfast, coffee and pastries, lunch and afternoon refreshments were served. All very good The lighting in areas wasn't as bright as it could be. No comment on the rooms as the company stayed off site in an alternative location.

Don't be fooled by the photos. If you like self-service, cheesy decor, and rooms that smell like a high school boys gym locker, then this is the place for you. When we arrived, the taxi unloaded 5 suitcases, yet no one came out to help. After hauling all this to reception, when it was time to go to our room, we had to ask for help. They had to search for a trolley to put everything on, since they obviously don't offer this service as standard. Our first room had 2 tiny twin beds, even though we requested 1 king. We had to haul all our stuff back downstairs to change rooms & then back up to the new room. When we opened the door to the new room the STINK made us gag! But, there we no more rooms available! Now we have the windows wide open to try and breathe fresh air, and yet this is like the Seinfeld episode where he can't get the stink out of his car and everything that enters the car. And the halls smell like it to. This place is lipstick on a pig. Don't go here!!! Try the Regent or the Westin! Save yourself the grief, and stink!

Nice hotel. Front desk was friendly and helpful. However, we required an extra bed in one of our rooms and it was not delivered until almost 10 pm and after 3 phone calls/contacts with front desk. Room and bathroom was clean. A/C was poor. Hotel bar was excellent. Breakfast was very good.
