Very nice hotel, especially if you like the concept of sustainability the whole area is about. The only problem for me was that you cannot regulate the temperature in the room. I understand it is part of the design of the building, the staff very kindly explained to me that it has the same temperature all year round, but it was too cold for me. I would have preferred to know this in advance.

Had a nice stay. The staff was always helpful, even helping me change rooms in the middle of the night (long story but nothing to do with the hotel) and helping me find items I had left behind. The rooms were very functional, straight lines, lots of wood, and despite being over 31C outside it was well tempered inside ("passively" climatized building). Did not take advantage of breakfast, and no coffee in room. Bakery right outside, grocery store, pharmacy and bank across the street, lots of students and then there is Freiburg, clearly the best German city. Overall a very good value.

Excellent hotel: modern and very comfortable. The only downside was the poor internet connection.

This hotel is amazing for anyone who enjoys seeing sustainable practices and technologies in action. I gone to see Vauban (the town the hotel is located in) twice. Once about ten years ago and once last year to see how the hotel and town has progressed. The town is incredible and the hotel is also incredible. The service at the hotel is amazing as everyone is very nice, well trained and genuinely happy and proud to work at such a sustainable and forward thinking building. Even the pens you sign in with are made out of wood (and you can keep them :D ). The sides of the building have vines growing up, all the sinks and showers are efficient, passive solar windows designed to let in light without needing to use power until later at night. There is a local train/tram (not expensive) located just outside the building that will take you to the historic and highly reccomended town of freiburg in about ten minutes. This hotel is a must for people who want to see what the future of green building design should be in the hotel arena. Bright, beautifully decorated, efficient, friendly, comfortable, and very clean!
