Nun ja, dass es hier kein 5-Sterne Hotel ist, sollte jedem klar sein. Da aber die Zimmer sehr sauber waren und das Personal sehr freundlich, kann ich nicht weniger als 5 Sterne vergeben.

Very nice hotel with very friendly staff. Room is spotless, beds look new and comfortable. And breakfast is nice too! Very recommendable!

Can't say enough nice things about this hotel, the staff and owners, and location. Located on a cobblestone street in historic Durlach, a stone's throw from the train, around the corner from many nice pubs and restaurants.
The hotel (inn) is beautiful, with a fantastic courtyard to enjoy a drink, really feels like you're experiencing a historic building (which I think it is). Anyway, rooms are super clean and comfortable - we had a "family room", so our son actually had a separate "room" within our room. Separate closet, sink, etc - great setup and made everyone more comfortable. Also, breakfast (included) is wonderful - great start to the day.
However, what makes this above and beyond excellent is the staff and owners. From the greeting in the morning when they make you a coffee, to the extra things they do for you. I can't imagine staying anywhere else, even if Karlsruhe/Durlach isn't your immediate destination.
We were under an hour from both Strasbourg and Heidelberg. Coming back from our day trips, you could stop off at an Eis cafe, or we later found out the owners also run a Wirtshaus around the corner.
Durlach, and especially the hotel, were vacation within a vacation :-)
