Nach meiner letzten (sehr negativen) Erfahrung mit Avis, war ich nun positiv überrascht. Die Rückgabe des Autos hat super funktioniert.

Vorsicht betrug ! Es werden nach der Miete noch Gelder ungerechtfertigt abgebucht! Avis sollte man meiden wenn möglich! Mitarbeiterin des Kundenservices - Frau Mossuto - unfreundlich und herablassend! Abzocke, Betrug und schlechter Service..

This is a long review to clear things up from other reviewers. Overall after reading the 4 reviews I was terrified of what to expect when we got to the station to return the vehicle as I collected vehicle from Stuttgart Airport. So did our research - first called Avis Stuttgart Central and asked them a bit of questions. Found them to be very helpful over the phone mentioned about the bad reviews. They spoke English well. Then typed in the address (Am Hauptbahnhof) as listed on the website into Navigation. Got to the Parking area on the wall bottom written Parking. Entered the parking area, took a parking ticket and drove down to parking area looking out for Rentals sign. Saw the car rentals sign (Avis and others). Parked in the bay. Parked vehicle. Took several pictures of vehicle to show no damages. Walked out the parking up the stairs to the platform first and then out the platform turned left towards the central station area. Over the bridge entering the central station area, turned left as if walking out of the building but just as you come down the stairs turn left you will see the lockers and Avis is there with other car rentals. So CAUTION! There is construction going on at the station which is why it looks a bit chaotic. So get there earlier. At night I suggest use your mobile phone light to help you see properly. Again walk through the Central Station over the bridge. There is a platform entrance into the garage. i cannot remember but ask the front desk lady. Elizabeth was very helpful. She even help me book another vehicle in Munich. I am not sure I received great service because I am a preferred client or just go lucky on the day. I know I have returned the vehicle and picked it up at Central Station so everything I written will be in reverse to collect your vehicle. If you arrive at the station walk out the platform to central station area. Walk out down the stairs towards the exit doors, see the lockers on your left is where you find Avis. To collect the vehicle just find out through which platform you can walk to get into the parking lot area. It's a lot closer than other directions you may have received. I hope this helps you.

This office is unbelievably difficult to find and the staff simply said "we're not authorised to put up more signs". Clearly too difficult to inform customers by email.
There were no signs to see from our entry point, we checked again over the next days.

Unpleasant experience from start to finish. On arriving at the railway station, it is a long walk to get to the rental office, and then an even longer walk to get to the car park where the cars are parked. Especially if you arrive at night, it does not feel safe at all. You have to walk for what seems like miles, along dimly lit and dingy corridors. There are not many people about. There are stairs too, which makes it very hard, especially with luggage.
Additionally, watch out for Avis Budget Group staff. They refuse to check over your car at the end of the rental period, but then a spurious sum of money appears on your credit card statement days later. With the help of the online rental agency, I succeeded in getting my money back and received a letter of apology from the Avis Budget Group. Since, then the same thing happened to me when renting a car with Avis Budget in France, staff refused to check the car, spurious sum of money on my credit card, when challenged, Avis apologising for 'administrative' error and refunding the money. Beware of Avis Budget Group!
