Hinduism took root in Africa from the late 19th century onwards through the spread of the British Empire, which colonized huge swaths of land throughout Asia and Africa, including almost the entirety of the Indian subcontinent. Many Indians were recruited as indentured servants throughout the British Empire, settling mainly in the British colonies of Southern and Eastern Africa. The descendants of these settlers often chose to remain in Africa after the end of colonial rule, developing Indo-African communities that remain to this day.

I returnedtwo weeks ago from a tour to India with my children who are Hare akrishna devotees. I was so surpised when I saw the Iskcon temple on the way to m guest house. I stopped and to visit the temple. As I found in India, Iskcon and Hare Krishna devotees are great. The temple itsellf is beautiful and serene and worth a visit.

Fomos visitar o templo ISKCON (Sociedade Internacional para a Consciência do Hinduísmo) - Um Botswana o templo situa-se na cidade de Gaborone. É um bonito templo que atraiu muitas pessoas de todas as partes do país para ver sua magnífica obra de arte que pode ser vista no exterior e especialmente no interior, onde não se pode fotografar. O templo é a casa de Sri Sri Kirishna e Balarama. Vale a pena conhecer!

The temple has very quite and peaceful environment. The prayers to Lord Krishna starts at 7:00 pm daily. They also offer prasadam (lunch or dinner) on pre-order basis.
