We've just come back from what was a wonderful 8 days in Iceland however, unfortunately Touring Cars didn't make our trip so enjoyable at times. On booking the Caravan we were told we would have a year old Caravan in great condition, the condition of our caravan wasn't in great condition at all on arrival and definitely not 1 year old, we were given very old, grubby bed linen and the pillows barely had any filling left in them. After 4 days of travel we broke down, the Oil Plug fell out and we came to a complete holt on a sharp bend on the Route 1. Thankfully a very nice local guy towed us to a save place. On contacting Touring Cars about the breakdown, we were told we would have to wait 28 hours for a replacement van, Bearing in mind where we broke down was only a 8 1/2 drive from the Touring Cars office. We reviewed the contract which stated they supply a 24 hour around the clock service and we would have a replacement within 24 hours. It took nearly 4 hours of phone calls (every time they said they would phone back they did not, costing me the call) and a call to my lawyer before they were persuaded into sending a driver out to drive through the night with the new replacement Vehicle.
We were accused over the phone by the Manager that the fault was ours and we should never have moved the van until the replacement came (note we were nearly hit by an oncoming vehicle on the sharp bend on which we broke down). On returning the replacement Caravan at the end of our Journey, the Customer Service we received was appalling, they made us feel awkward from the moment we arrived and as if we had done something wrong. The Guy was very short with us and just completely rude and even seemed reluctant to give us our lift back to the airport which was included in the cost and after everything not one apology for the inconvenience of the Caravan breaking down.

At the first sight it seems really great because you have a shift between the airport and their office but don't be happy!! They give you the car with the fuel not full and they are sceptic when you do the same on your departure. More grave, you must paid 800€ (€ not isk!!) for a little scratch on the table!!! A simple table they will use after your rent for sure!! So a little advice, when you check the car just made a cross everywhere during the check-in even if there is nothing because they are not looking there and maybe you have a chance to pay nothing more.

Nettes und freundliches Personal sowohl beim Abholen, als auch der Rückgabe des Fahrzeuges. Es gibt sogar noch kostenlosen Kaffee.
Was ich aber nicht so toll fand ist der Preis für die kleine Gasflasche. Dieser war 6 Mal so hoch wie ansonsten in den Geschäften. Da kann ich nur raten lieber keine zu nehmen und an der nächsten Tankstelle einzukaufen.

We hired a motorhome from Touring Cars in July 2016 for 7 days. While they market themselves as being the most reasonably priced, we faced some really aggressive customer service. I would caution prospective customers to be aware that the Touring cars are too keen to make money off you.
1) When we were going to collect our motorhome, the customer service was very very basic. The representative did not show any interest in explaining our concerns, his biggest motivation was to sell us insurance. He kept giving us scary scenarios to influence our decision to take insurance.
2) The motorhome itself was in great condition and we had a great holiday, but they warn you and make you sign that any scratch on the motorhome needs to be detected before accepting the vehicle. It is almost impractical to do so, it is almost like a having a greedy landlord. When I pointed out that there were scratches on the kitchen hob, the representative backed off a bit and said, we are ok with a bit of wear and tear.
3) They did not warn us that, in Iceland when refuelling, it is better not to choose the option Full tank at the stations. This option can block your credit card with ISL 25000 for every such transaction, in addition to the actual fuel charge. When we became aware of the limit that was getting blocked on our card, we did not choose full tank option before handing the vehicle but just short, the fuel indicator showed F on the dashboard. But they still charged us a mandatory fee at 3 times the fuels price!!!
4) When inspecting the vehicle, they appear very aggressive and almost leave with you with a grim sense that, be prepared for some big charges!!! I could not believe the very poor way they handle customers. Our customer representative at the time of handing over the vehicle had the gumption to say that a small nick under the table had been caused by us. She went on to say that we should be glad that we were not charged for the replacement of the table but only for replacing the small rod where the damage had occurred. I do not think anyone could have noticed that chip under the table before collecting!!!
The staff is very cheeky and very unfriendly. They did not let us give feedback because they said it was 1800 in the evening and they do not have time for that!!!

Very friendly staff and totally modern fleet. We booked a TC Small and got a brand new 2016 Carado T135 built on a Fiat Ducato. Touring through Iceland doesn't get any better than this!
