Great hotel for exploring Iceland for the first time. The old harbour is just outside the door, where a lot of guided tours start, just as whale watching or northern lights tour. The personal is help- and insightful and the rooms provide you with everything you'll need. Reykjavik's nightlife starts right in the hotel bar Splippbarin, where well prepared cocktails are served. The breakfast offers everything you'll need for your daily exploration. Fans of industrial charm will love the place.

We booked a room with a double bed. We arrived to find two twin beds pushed together.
It's disappointing Hotel Marina was not able to produce the mattress that was literally the defining feature of the room advertised.
Location is exceptional. Reception can't be bothered with questions.

Location is pretty good. There is a lot of construction going around that area. Parking is a bit difficult, but not a major problem. Beds were fantastic, staff was friendly. Room was a bit loud because they are close to a busy road. They supplied ear plugs. Shower was clean.

Brilliant hotel in an ideal location for making the most of Reykjavik.
Great style and facilities, only let down by the rather unusual bathroom facilities that don't have a fully sealing door and which have semi opaque walls.
You need to be very comfortable in the company of whoever you share your room with!
Apart from that we couldn't fault it. The bar and cafe are well run and the views across the harbour are striking.

Not sure how this could have been much better... right on the harbour and walking distance to most of the centre of Reykjavik. There is a small cafe and a bar and restaurant called Slippbarrin which serves excellent food. The room is good and bed comfortable. If you are American, don't expect the rooms to be massive. This isn't the US. Friendly and helpful staff. All in all, this was a good place to stay for the Icelandairwaves music festival. The hotel bar also served as an "off venue" location, so there was live music here most nights too. The place also has lots of nooks and crannies to sit quietly too... so you don't have to stay in the room. One night we went to buy a bottle of water from the 24 hour reception and the young guy looked at us kindly and said "You know this is exactly the same as comes out of the taps" ....
