This hotel is generally shabby. If you get the price beyond 350k per night you'd better look for alternatives.

Let's start with the building. The hotel isn't old but it is clearly refurbished, probably from a former office building. Don't expect city view if you're not getting the top floor because you can only see neighbouring alley, but at least you'll get a bit of sunshine. Location is good if you're looking for a place to sleep after shopping at Pasar Baru or strolling around Asia Afrika area.

The bedroom looks okay in the picture, but the only thing I liked about it is the king-sized bed. When I entered the room it did not smell fresh, like a vague mix of smoke and medicated oil (minyak angin), and they did not even bother using air freshener to make a new guest feel comfortable. The slippers looked like they had been used. Wi-Fi was ridiculously slow. I found stains on the bed and pillow sheet as well as the bed cover, all of which did not smell fresh as well.

I was particularly unimpressed with the bathroom. The walls and door are made of flimsy PVC with poor air circulation, it will remind you of an airplane toilet with flimsy tap. Towels are obviously old, not even fresh, with logo of other hotels owned by the hotel group. Other bathroom amenities only included dental kit, a soap/shampoo dispenser, and a hairdryer. It wasn't dirty but the cleanliness standards were at bare minimum.

The breakfast was equally disappointing, if not more, with very limited options. On the left hand side of the restaurant I found a small buffet of steamed rice, fried rice noodles, tasteless sauteed green bean and baby corn, and hard-boiled eggs cut in half. They didn't bother to try to keep the dishes warm, so you can see margarine sticks on the veggies. In the middle there were white bread (only one slice was left when I arrived at 9 am, although the breakfast is provided until 10), a toaster, and four different spreads. On the right hand side there was porridge with limited condiments and no bowl, to which I had to tell the kitchen staff to replenish it. I also had to ask him to replenish the glass and the content of a dispenser with a note that says "infused water" next to it. I had a glass of it once it was refilled, but it didn't taste like infused water. Turned out it was made of melon-flavoured syrup mixed with room temperature water.

While I would've admired the zodiac concept they're trying to incorporate in the premise, I see nothing particularly impressive beyond restaurant chairs with the symbol of Cancer zodiac sign. The headboard decoration in my bedroom, with a quote from Mike Tyson, a Cancerian, was a nice touch, until I realised that he was born in June, not July, as the headboard suggests.

Couldn't say much about the service because I didn't ask for much assistance during my stay. Checked in at 7 pm, left at 11 am, wished I knew better that the place is only a value for money if you don't have to pay full price.
