The doctor I have seen on the out patient department was careless and I think he didn't have enough experience to treat people properly.

I can only rate the service in the mercy hospital based on medical care that my family, friends and I received over the last few decade's.
They are under staffed and under paid.
It is a credit to the nurses, doctors and all staff here who come to work 24/7 to serve the city and county's ill.
My family and friends over the decades have been treated with respect and the level of professionalism in the mercy is second to none.
They are under staffed and under paid.
The A and E is always busy here as it is the only city centre A and E remaining.
The north infirmary is closed for many years now and the south infirmary A and E is also closed down.

Came into A&E at 3 am with stroke symptoms, no doctor came to see me for 3 hours at which point I was told I'd have a brainscan first thing in the morning. The next day rolls around and after pestering the nurses every 10 minutes it took a doctor until 5PM!!! to see me for the scan. I had no follow up until the next day again (ended up trying to discharge myself in order for a doctor to look at my scans), leaving me with a bill of over 250€ for something that should have been done in a few hours. The rooms and equipment wouldn't go amiss in medieval times and so does the service, unless you're having a stroke/heartattack and this is your only option I would steer well clear of this place, no idea how they are allowed to have any patients there.

Rang from abroad as my relative had been transferred from another hospital. Got an update from the nurse but was unable to speak to my relative as there are no phones in the rooms and no portable phone on the ward. No doctor was available due to the time difference (understandably) but no time or number could be made available to contact the hospital doctors or consultant if I rang back at another time. This is unacceptable in 21st century medicine and demonstrates a lack of respect for patients and their families.

Great service given the circumstances, ie state of health care in general- too many chiefs etc. Majority of staff are very friendly and efficient and accommodating. It's not a hotel but it's not supposed to be. Have been an in-patient as well as being there to avail of xrays. Only drawback can be parking but then again what do you expect from a city centre hospital. Excellent service provided given resources available. Keep up the good work
