I have been there while in Bologna with my partner and friends and we absolutely love it! Thanks to a local friend of mine who showed us the place, we had the chance having an amazing meal here.
The service is professional and extremely friendly. The waiter and the owner spoke excellent english and the menu is translated, so don't worry about the language if you plan to come here.
Also I suggest to ask for the house wine, they have an amazing Pignoletto, which the fizzy version is the closest thing to prosecco you can find! Oh I almost forgot to mention the house wine is not by the bottle, but by the quantity, they have it on tap! You can easily ask for a litre of white and one of red (Lambrusco is my suggestion) if you can't make up your mind.
The quality of the food it's amazing and this is the only restaurant in Bologna where we had a meal twice!
The tagliatelle with ragù are mouthwatering but my favorite were the Ravioli, stuffed with Grouper and literally covered in seafood! Spectacular!
If you never had deep fried courgettes flower, give it a try as a starter to the ones they serve here: they are stuffed with prawns! Just gorgeous!

The food at Matusel is so delicious, and the nicest people work there! The restaurant was once a brothel, and the decor tastefully alludes to its sordid past. A favorite in Bologna!

Cannot say enough good things about this place. The food was wonderful (seafood-stuffed fried zucchini blossoms, gnocchi with clams and artichoke), the wine advice perfect, and they didn't make a solo diner feel like a leper. Just wish I'd discovered it earlier.

Oh yes, what a wonderful place. The Matusel is in a small alley, its easy to miss it, but its worth looking for it. The service was top notch, they were nice to our kids, and the food was really really good. The interior is kind of crazy, but nice. Totally worth checking out.
