Beautiful mountain museum, be aware you have to take lot off stairs. Due to different themes al the museum of Mesner are different and worth wile to visit.

Less a museum than a collection of impressions and reflections it seemed to me. The partly chaotic path (alternative routes) as well as tempting the visitor out of the comfort zone (glass floor, metal grid) are metaphores of the uncertainty of mountains imo and part of the concept.

The views are stunning as is the architectural treatment of an important historical place. Go because it's a gallery of art and the memorabilia of this prominent climber. Don't go if you're expecting it to be a museum.

Very interesting museum, the core facility of the Messner Mountain Museums. Presents clearly the passion and the development of mountain climbing. Shows also the strong relationship between religion and mountains, a bit strongly focused on the 'foreign' perspective, including budism. The local relations between humans and mountains could be emphasised a bit stronger. Nevertheless a very fascinating, experience based museum. The concept of the museum delivers more an overall impression and emotional approach to the topic of mountain climbing rather than deep information about each aspect. Also don't expect detailed information about the expeditions of Messner. The local restaurant offers delicious food. The signage for orientation could be a bit more clearly. The castle itself offers different, great views into the countryside. Strong recommendation to visitors: take the audio guide, it worth the extra money.
