I have rented cars a few times in Sicily, but once with Avis : never again.
The car had a little scratch when we gave it back.
I don't even know if it happened during our rent, it was very, very little, we didn't even seen it.
But the employee went directly to the scratch (of course...).
They charged us 221€ : 110€ for the scratch (ok fair enough), 79€ for application fees (!!!) and 32€ of airport taxes.
They never made any reparation about the scratch, they refused to give us the bill from the mechanic for our insurance (of course ...)
So honestly, try to chose a different company.
They are not honest at all.

When i was looking for a car rental company at Catania I was slightly concerned after reading all the horror stories/reviews. At the end I went with reputable Avis and that turned out to be a great choice. All went extremely well. Yes, at the counter they will offer you an extra insurance to buy with the car at additional cost but they didn't push too hard and it was all in a professional manner. I declined due to other arrangements I made beforehand. They even gave me choice of 3 different car makes within same category. Drop off was dead easy. The chap was very nice and we had a nice chat. I could not be happier about the over all experience with Avis Catania.

I booked Volvo combi they gave me a SUV and sold me full insurance .. was good at the end cause the car was scratched and it was not reported.. The car was grey and on the docs was white.. And the price I got from the site was without taxes, so the final was seriously different..It is true that they try to sell you everything, so come prepared. Anyway overall experience is positive and service is fast and with good quality😄

Outstanding customer service! It couldn't have been more flawless, fast, and friendly. I'm not sure of the past negative reviews on here, but they must be under new management or something, because I dealt with a few of the agents (decided to switch cars), and they were all equally great to work with. I also noticed the much longer, chaotic lines at the other agencies, and was happy I went with these guys.

Fast pick-up and return of the car. Employees assist and meet the needs. In order not to worry about the car, you need full insurance, which is not cheap, but you do not worry about the car, especially in Italy. Last time I had booked car in class B and it was Fiat Panda Diesel. Really nice car for two people and it was economic.
