Gold car is a fraudulent company. They confirmed my booking. They denied me service on the confirmed rental car at the airport of Catania Italy. I asked for a refund and they are telling me that I can not cancel my reservation or get my credit card refunded because I had a special rate. They are ignoring that they denied me service on a confirmed booking by them. Save yourself a lot of problems stay away from these crooked people representing Gold car rental company

Your worst Customer experience ever!
The management does a terrible job at Goldcar. Kick them out. Waiting time 2.5 hours easily.

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY: Their information in the car dents and scratches are inaccurate.. I rented a car, and noticed some scrathes on the hubcap(which are not mentioned in their paperwork) after receiving the car. Documented it with photos, but still Goldcar retained money from my security deposit for a damage I did not do.
THIS IS TO GOLDCAR - I request a response to my inquiry.. And not one of your standard " we are working hard to improve our service etc.." nonsense, but a REAL response.

I got live the same situation presented here by other users: i booked online (via autoeurope) one car with insurance, just to find out at the counter that I wasn't insured at all. They persuaded me into paying almost 300 euro more. I've checked the situation with autoeurope and it turns out that they made me pay for something I already had. When i tried to discuss this with the officer in front office, they first told me that my contract was over (having already returned the car) and they are not obliged to answer my questions. I insisted and she told me that indeed, I had an insurance which would've covered my eventual expensive in case of car damage. So basically, I was covered in the first place!
Later edit: while reading the reviews of others, I saw how a Goldcar representative is replying to most bad reviews saying that clients had some insurance but needed some extra cover. This is a lie. In my case, the goldcar employee told me I had absolutely no (zero) insurance. When the contract is over, they claim to have told you the truth and that it was your choice to buy a more expensive insurance! This is theft!

Good service and pretty fast to get and return the car.
But Huge warning on the credit/debit card system for the deposit as it's very special in Italy.
You have to get a debit card in order to proceed the booking. Otherwise you will pay extra taxes.
