I had no idea it was there or that it existed. I have never seen a more stunning sculpture park. Most such things would place a bunch of sculptures in a garden - it might be a beautiful garden and there might be beautiful sculptures, but what is the relationship between the two? Here, it's hard to say whether the sculpture existed first and then the quarry was excavated in order to reveal them, or the quarry was excavated and then the sculpture was installed. Not that Italy doesn't have plenty to offer, but for me, the park would be worth the visit by itself.

Il posto é interessante pero un po' di informazioni e descrizioni più approfondite aiuterebbe i visitatori a capire meglio le sculture

In tutta la cava sono presenti numerose sculture moderne in pietra e acciaio dello scultore Antonio Paradiso, proprietario de l'intero complesso. Egli ha inteso trasformarlo in una scultura antropologica con contributi sia finanziaria che culturali rigorosamente personale con l'umiltà e modestia. In fondo sopra a destra da vistitare il Santuario della Palomba parzialmente ipogeo, antico convento dei monaci. Il Parco apparentemente pulito, grazie ai visitatori che qualvolta lasciano spesso carte, lattine, bottiglie e cose varie al interno del Parco. Un posto meraviglioso e sereno, pecato che non venga ben riconosciuto dal Comune di Matera.

Les carrières dans les environs de Matera nous interpellent par les traces inhabituelles de l'exploitation et par les variations de couleur de la roche en fonction du moment de la journée. Le site est déjà extraordinaire.
Les sculptures en acier rouillé s'intègrent dans cette carrière et en même temps contraste avec la clarté de la roche.
