Disgusted with the service by this rogue trader. We had booked and prepaid an "all-inclusive" package with an agent. When we arrived at Goldcar in Linate the woman at the desk was one of the most obnoxious and rude individuals I have ever had to deal with. She informed that to return the car full of fuel would incur a "service fee" of some 50 Euros ! I said that in no way was I paying a fee for the honour of returning a rental car with the same amount of fuel as at pickup ! She then went to all but insist that their own extortionate insurance was mandatory. When I told her that I didn't want the insurance, and didn't want to pay the "fee" for returning full she became aggressive, arrogant and stated that therefore we could not rent one of "their" cars and that she wouldn't let me have the car I have already paid for. Her male colleague, who was equally inefficient and rude, nodded agreement with her. I called the agent I had booked through and informed them that this rude woman was refusing to give us the car we had paid for, and the agent agreed to a full refund. We then went to a proper company (Enterprise) right next door and had the excellent service we expect.

As part of her rudeness, when I said that I was not going to pay for extra insurance, as well as stating that it would "cost" me 1000 Euro deposit if I didn't, she quite bizarrely told me "you are in Italy now, you need to behave like it". Not quite sure what she meant by this, but if it means just accepting being robbed by a third-rate car rental company, I'm afraid I'd rather stay in England !

During this, when I was reading the contract on my mobile phone, this woman thought that I was taking her photograph (not sure why she thinks I would want to !) and shouted at me to give her my phone to "check" ! I, of course, refused and told her that she was NOT going to touch my phone at which she threatened to call the police. I invited her to do so immediately, but this was clearly an empty threat as she didn't. AVOID THIS TERRIBLE LOW LEVEL CAR RIP-OFF COMPANY AND USE A REAL COMPANY, SUCH AS AVIS, HERTZ ETC INSTEAD. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!!

Really rude woman at the desk who tried her best to make me feel like a fool for not taking out their stupidly expensive insurance which would have increased the charge from 30 euros to 90. She also pretended to be shocked that I was a "new driver", having been driving for over 4 years I don't consider this to be new at all, she proceeded to charge me with a 15 euro new driver fee or whatever. She then handed me a piece of paper and told me to mark all of the defects I could find on the car or I could be charged a lot of money. The car is a 10 minute walk away from the office, which was covered in small scratches and bumps on every side of the car, the paper looked like a complete mess once I had circled all I could find. Another 10 minute walk back to the office where the rude assistant seemed annoyed to see me again and shook her head at the paper I gave her. 10 minutes walk back to the car.
2 stars because I got my deposit back (they hold 1000 euros on your credit card if you don't take out insurance) and the car worked.

We thought we rented a car from goldcar without any issues until we arrived back at the airport. Just before we wanted to hand in our car we saw another customer desparately complaing about damage to his car he seemed to say he wasn't responsible for. After that we handed in the car we rented ourselves. Much to our suprise the employee walked straight to the right front side of our car and pointed out a scratch to us. To me that seemed very suspicious as you could never see such a scratch from far out. The parking garage is quite dark so it's easy to miss such damage when you rent a car. I would advise no one to rent a car from Goldcar. But if you do decide to do so. Please take pictures from all sides before you rent the car and thoroughly check for damage.

Maybe it is an Italy thing. But wow was this an awful experience. Yes we have your car but you need to book it online or we will charge you 6 times the amount(litterly) oh but since you're booking online you need to wait in the hour long line again even though you're here and I can see it confirmed already. FYI an hour long wait is for one or two people in front of you. Absolutely atrocious. When I got there they charged me 10 times what was on my form and wouldn't give me a refund.

Unbelievably slow. Wait was over 50 (fifty) minutes, just one client who was thinking about renting. Maybe there was love in the air or something. Another client was waiting for hours to get his car changed, he needed another one because the car was incredibly stinky.
