An excellent museum, only given the profusion and wealth of Syracuse history and the ambition of presenting it all, for a normal person with limited knowledge of the antiquity and classical studies, the museum is difficult to understand and can even get frustrating. A more pedagogical approach might be useful, especially as some measures are already there : the interpretative videos. A better, simpler digest is needed.

The museum is quite interesting to people who are curious about the history of Sicily.
It has loads of pottery and findings of the former civilization that resided on the island.
The place is clean and well organized. I would recommend it for history classes.

If you are into acient pottery, this is a great place to visit. Also in the cellar there was an exposition about old coins and jewelry
