Tiny place but really reccomened for cicchetti and all their amazing food and drinks.The staff is friendly an easy going. I love it!

Friendly staff considering that we were the only ones who were non Italian speaking patrons. The food is of typical italian/venetian, but very tasty and affordable compared to all the touristy traps. Highly recommend that you drop by for a meal. You can book in advance or try your luck - if a table is unavailable, you can stand and eat.

The only sit-down, order-from-the-menu meal that we ate in an entire week in Venice. Al Portego is one of the few restaurants in Venice without a tout up front or a menu board in five languages. We stumbled across it on the way back to Cannaregio from St. Mark's - it was closed, but we went back for lunch the next day. Well worth it.

My favourite place in Venice for drinks and tasty ciccheti. I was delighted with squid, clams, croquettes, lasagne, bruschetta, sardines, eggplant... I had dinner somewhere else for twice the price and was still hungry so I went to Al Portego afterwards 😏.
