I would avoid using this rental company at all costs due to their corrupt and unethical practices. We collected a car from Verona airport and inspected the car for pre- existing damages with the employee as is normal practice. There were numerous scratches and marks on the car which we were careful to photograph. One scratch was spotted that we highlighted to the employee however we were assured by her that it was under 5cm and so did not need to be recorded on the damage sheet. Imagine our horror when we dropped off the car and we were told we had to pay €100 euros for this 'new' damage that hadn't been previously recorded. We were also told that we needed to pay €300 for a small mark that had appeared on one of the car doors (even though it was less than 5cm so under their T&Cs was apparently irrelevant). It was a tiny mark, the kind caused by a small stone bouncing from the ground on to the car. Definitely not a mark that would cost €300 to repair. We were also charged €81 admin costs for the fact that we unsurprisingly, disputed paying the extortionate €400 damage costs. Even though we were told at the time that by not agreeing to the charges the money would not be taken from our account as we would need to raise a dispute with them, two days later the full amount of €500 was taken. Be wary of this company, they cannot be trusted!

My family and I rented a vehicle from LocAuto at Verona Aeroporto for 8 days, it was originally supposed to be an Opel Zafira but it turned out to be the most basic model of the Skoda Octavia 1.6tdi.
We'd driven the Skoda locally for approximately 5 days when the oil warning lit, the car was switched off and left to settle before I popped the bonnet and checked the fluid levels, both the coolant and engine oil were well below the minimum, the oil was barely registering on the dipstick.
Because the light had come on late on Saturday night everywhere had closed, all of the petrol stations in and around our hotel were self-serve and unmanned on a weekend so we were unable to use the vehicle until Monday after everyone had returned to work.
As we were unaware of what the procedures are with a hire car in Italy and not knowing of any shops open that would sell engine oil I asked at our hotel reception and the young lady said that the nearest seller of motor oil would probably be a shopping centre but all of these were too far to travel with no oil, she also said that if I bought the oil and asked for a receipt from the seller then the hire company should reimburse us when we returned the car back to the lender, that all seemed reasonable and because I'm mechanically minded I had no problem in topping up the engine oil.
On the Monday we had loaded our luggage into the car and set off in search of an open petrol station that was manned and on our route back to the airport. Luckily, having only driven no more than a kilometer at less than 1500rpm we came across a Q8 manned petrol station that sold the correct 5w/30 longlife oil we needed, I paid €22 for a litre of oil and asked the vendor for a receipt, this I kept safe until we returned the car back to Locauto.
Upon arriving at the airport we removed our luggage and took the key back to the checkout desk, this is when it all started.
When my wife returned the key I asked the woman behind the desk if I could be reimbursed for the oil that I'd had to buy and I showed her the receipt. I was told very abruptly and in a really rude, arrogant voice that a receipt wasn't good enough and I needed a full bill of sale, I didn't understand why it made any difference, the receipt showed the price I'd paid and the oil tub showed exactly the same price, it also had less than 200ml in the tub which showed how much oil the car had lacking. I was then told that if the car has run out of oil I should ring the phone number on the paperwork we was given and they will send someone out to top it up. I went to college when I left school and trained as a mechanic many years ago, when I'm in my own vehicle and the oil light comes on then the first thing that comes to mind is to check the oil level and put some oil in if it needs it, I don't go ringing people up late at night and ask them for a litre of oil because I'm capable of doing it myself and this is all well and good in practice but when you can't ring Italian telephone numbers on your mobile phone it isn't feasible, I also need to add that I'm disabled and need to take medication at certain times of the day so when I'm in pain then I am not going to wait around when I can fix the problem myself and in less time.
Talking about my disability, I am on crutches because of an above-knee amputation and I had to walk back to the car at the far end of the car park whilst one of Locautos' employee checked over the vehicle for any damage which was all alright and then he started it up to see if we'd refueled it, which we had, I took the new oil tub out of the boot and showed this to the employee and he said that he couldn't help me because the lady that I'd had the problem with was actually the manager and what she says goes.
I returned back to the office and showed the manager the oil tub still with its price sticker on the front but she said that it wasn't good enough for a refund, I even thought about sucking the oil back out of the car because I've just saved them €4-5k for a new engine and I had it thrown back in my face. Thanks.....

We rented a mid size car for a week from Verona airport. I had booked it online and it was very good value compared to some others. The staff were very helpful and efficient and the car was comfortable and very economical on diesel. I would be very happy to use locauto again.

Beware of this auto-rental company. We have gave our company credit card to rend a car in Italy, after four months we noticed another bill for 48,80 euro from LOCAUTO RENT. They are stealing money!
