JAM HOSTEL Kyoto Gion haritada
değerlendirme
Sov Owner (18.10.2017 14:16)
In my 10 years of traveling, Jam Hostel in Gion Kyoto is hands down the worst experience of my life. This hostel closes at 9pm. We missed a train and arrived at ~9:15pm. The owner Aiko Ikeda is possibly the worst human being you'll ever meet in the hospitality industry. Let me tell you why:
1. Since we got to the hostel late and the door was locked, we walked into the Jam sake bar asking to see if they had a contact for the hostel staff. Aiko the owner herself lied straight to our face and said no I do not know them and I don't have the contact for them.
2. Since we just arrived from a different country and did not have a local sim card, we asked politely for the wifi password of the bar so we can find another hotel to stay. Aiko again said no, I cannot let you use the wifi, and please wait outside (where it was very cold). She looked at us through the window and had this mockery glee on her face. Other guests at the bar saw us. They came out to help us with their phones and told us that it was indeed the owner herself. What kind of wretched person do you have to be to not only make people's lives more difficult but also smile in other people's suffering?
3. We had a second reservation the next day. We checked in and asked the hostel to return the money for the previous night. We are again very polite and courteous. Never once did we yell or cause any scene. She screamed at us accusing us of disrupting her business and instructed her staff to throw our luggages out. Even though we paid for a second night, she kicked out us out and left us stranded yet again. Her staff quietly apologized to us repeatedly and was very scared of her.
4. Since we got kicked out, we asked her to return our passport photocopies as we are no longer guests. She refused, illegally held onto our passport info, and threatened to call the police.
5. We called the Kyoto police ourselves and they returned it to us right away. The Kyoto police offers bowed and apologized repeatedly to us and asked people to translate to English that "We are deeply embarrassed of this lady. Japanese people are not like this. Please don't think of us this way."
This is just our experience, met a psychopath who likes to see people suffer. Would you feel comfortable sleeping at the establishment of such a vile woman? Think about what could happen to your sleep at night.

A very recommendable bar with a warm atmosphere and great service!
The owner has a very good sense of humour.

Great place, Great Location. No frills but its cheap and located in an excellent part of town for walking and wandering to temples, restaurants, etc

Really a value for money deal. Also is a nice hostel to socialize with other travelers and have a nice sake bar. The staff is always willing to help you. Recommended!

Great price, lovely staff, and a really favourable bag-holding service.
The staff run a sake bar downstairs with knowledgable staff who speak fantastic English.
Only criticism? The laundry service is expensive and never dries your clothes.
