My wife and I have stayed at Tour Club Kyoto twice and it has to be one of the best places to stay for your money in the entire city. We booked the private double bedroom with private bath for $65 a night. It's a simple room, but we were less than 10 minutes away from Kyoto station. While there's a ton to see and do in Kyoto, it also makes for a great base to venture out for some day trips. You can easily take trips to Tokyo, Nara, and Hiroshima from Kyoto via the bullet train. We even grabbed a train to Osaka just to grab dinner there! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. My wife was feeling ill during our stay and a staff member gave us directions to a local pharmacy, wrote down what we needed in Japanese on a notecard, and even double checked the medicine to make sure it didn't contain ingredients my wife is allergic to. There's many great, inexpensive places to eat near the hotel, and there's usually tons of international guests staying there to befriend. Highly recommended!

Reception was super helpful and friendly. Help us plan our trips around the city. Walk isn't too far from the station. Stayed doe three nights and was satisified

Excellent value for money and the staff were superb. They even gave us some souvenirs (no promises)!
They offered fresh bedding as our stay was about a week, they provided towels and the shower facilities were good (we had a private one and there are common shower facilities downstairs).
It's in close proximity to the station (5-10 mins walk) and the staff provided us with a map of the area and some recommendations as to where to get food, etc. (There is a convenience store not 5 mins away).
The bedding was comfy and the room wasn't cramped - no issues whatsoever.
