One of the best Sukiyaki restaurant in Kyoto.
Traditional atmosphere, fine serving and manner of staff.
Reservation.
A bit expensive.

A really high-class and traditional Japanese restaurant(would be better to go there at lunch time, cause the price of dinner set is two times higher than the lunch set)
Reservation in advance is necessary, for visitors who want to reserve this restaurant must provide phone number in Japan or ask hotels they stay to make a phone call, or they can't enjoy nice beef here:)

it is totally racism and rudest Japanese guy I came across with who the reception old man to refuse or too stubborn to think making domestic phone call equals to respect vs we walk to the store and make reservation for tmr or either visiting and to wait until have seat on same day. Well. I would like to go somewhere else to enjoy full experience instead of adding bad emotion on my Kyoto food exp.

Exceptional steak and sukiyaki in an old school establishment. Quality is there (the beef is close to perfectly marbled) although one would have expected slightly better quantity for the price. Attentive service for the sukiyaki in particular. Some of the user comments on this restaurant more reflective of lack of English proficiency amongst the staff than their intentionally favoring local customers etc. The manager speaks English fluently.

We didn't make a reservation, but stopped by around 7PM to try our luck. We were greeted by an older gentleman and we told him we needed a table for 2. He didn't say whether a table was available and led us to the menu outside. He pointed at a few of the prices on the menu and said "per person" multiple times. We already knew the prices, so we told him it was fine and we would need a table for 2. He looked surprised and said the place was full and there's no table for us. We were prepared to be turned away since we didn't make a reservation, but the fact that he tried to turn us away by showing us prices thinking we couldn't afford it was just condescending.
