Not so much to buy and its sad compared to few years ago when it was a lot more lively. Outside stalls start to close around 9 or 9.30pm. There are about 2 local restaurants along the street. Inside the mall the business looks like very weakened. Still selling the Indian style clothes which was kinda nostalgic but needs some renovation in business terms I guess.

Good to get a range of gifts and souvenirs that are difficult to get else where.
It's a touristy place so expect some crowd.
Could improve with better store arrangement and lighting. Not much changes over the years.

historical place built by the straight settlement government in 1888. it was a cushion place between the moor architecture and the colonial British. the market sell a lot of piece of art from a simple inexpensive key chain, to a wonderful and expensive pewter and silverware. on the second floor there is a huge section that sell batik. finally this place also the house for food. there are a food court area at the second level and cheaper but without air-conditioning at the third level.

Beware of master chin and his scams in his fortune-telling shop. He told me he would give me a special deal and I decided to keep an open mind about things until he ran through my fortune-telling like a used car salesman and tried to charge me a ridiculously high price. When I told him I didn't have that much money and he asked me how much I had. I showed him all my money and told him this is how much I have to eat today, he quickly swiped most of the money out of my hand and left me with just enough to survive off of rice for the rest of the day. Never thought a kind a looking old man would be so quick to scam someone only caring about himself and how much money he can steal from people

Great place for buying gifts and dry foods. Also have other products. Relatively cheaper than other shopping malls. Nice ambiance. Fish spa was also nice.
