Me citaron a las 15 hrs para mi revisión con el médico, estuve sentado de 15hrs a 15:30 y no me pasaban; pregunté qué estaba pasando si la sala de espera estaba vacía y tenía media hora esperando... Me comentaron que en diez minutos llegaba el encargado de agendar mi cita... Cuando llegó me comentó que el médico no estaba, que había salido a comer... Le pregunté porque me cito a las 3 de la tarde si no iba estar el médico... Me respondió que el no controla a los médicos... Le pedí que le llamara al médico y le comentará que había un paciente citado a las 3 de la tarde.... El médico respondió que el llegaba hasta las 5.... Yo realice una cita con Amerimed, los médicos y personal del hospital deben respaldar los compromisos de Amerimed con sus pacientes, el tiempo de todas las personas vale por igual y a mi me enciende cuando alguien se quiere pasar de la raya... esta es una falta de respeto a sus pacientes y no hubo voluntad del médico por enmendar un error interno, total falta de profesionalismo y por lo que cobran deberían de tener una atención excelente

My family was on a cruise when my dad suffered a heart attack. The doctor on the Carnival Cruise ship sent us to this hospital. Before we could get settled in, they were collecting $5,000. We paid them and then found out my dad needed a heart cath. They would not deem him medically clear to fly and demanded $40,000 in order to proceed forward with bringing in the cardiologist from the mainland to perform the heart cath. After giving them $30,000 the cardiologist was unable to perform a stent procedure on my dad and they put him in ICU. We couldn't get a medical evacuation jet in, due to weather and the hospital tallied up our total bill to $62,000. When we couldn't pay them anymore money they basically kicked my dad out of the hospital without his medical records and sent him to a community hospital that really didn't have the means to take care of him if he were to have another heart attack.
My dad finally made it back to the states and ended up having a triple bypass surgery.
The medical insurance that my parents have is listed as one of their providers but they never attempted to file it with them.
The day my parents made it back home after being in and out of hospitals for almost a month they had a letter form a consumer debt collector on behalf of Hospital Amerimed in Cozumel for over $40,000.
The medical staff was friendly and as helpful as they could be, I suppose. However, the collection process is so cruel and heartless. If you are an American traveling to Cozumel and need medical treatment, you better have a pocket full of money and be prepared for them to attempt to get it all.
