Great location, clean beds, friendly and helpful staff. Showers sometimes only have cold water.

We stayed here for three nights on our inaugural trip to Oaxaca City. It's a very quiet hostel, at least for the time we were here. I couldn't tell you much about the dorms but the private rooms and the public areas are clean. Not much in the way of group activities. They do have a wall with recommended things to do in the city, though an internet search did the same. Breakfast was good, though the setup is a little cramped, especially with more than 3 or 4 people, which just means you have to be a little more patient in the morning. The front desk staff were helpful, though not as chatty as some hostels I've stayed at (good or bad depending on your mood). I'd say the best thing about the hostel is the roof, which is just a little taller than most buildings and gives you a wonderful view during dawn/dusk. The hostel really does need to fix the upstairs restroom however. The metal door is loud and doesn't lock and the shower is leaky (but has hot water and works). Clean and functional. I guess that's all you can really ask for from a hostel.

For 6 bucks (120 pesos) you can get a good comfortable bed, nice yard. Good breakfast and friendly staff. The only setback is that it is next to a funeral home. Which can be creepy walking around at night with all the coffins in display

They supposedly had a promo of 4 nights if you stayed 3, on the third day they told me you actually had to pay in advance, they never said this before and would not back up the offer nor do anything about it, saying that "those are the rules and we usually tell the people about it", too bad for me they did not tell me about. Half of the staff is not very friendly and you get the feeling you are more of an annoyance to them than an actual customer, the knowledge of the city from the staff guys I asked was not very helpful. Other than this, the hostel is ok, nothing goes on though (I am not even a party hostel guy), once it gets dark it is kind of dead, which may be a good thing for you, the issues here were more with the people than the place itself. If you are looking for a hostel that has something going on, meet some people or that kind of thing, look somewhere else, there are better places for the same price, one even cheaper (usually full tho). If you like rules, are better off without people and just want to chill at the hostel, this may be good.
