My fellow San Diegans: DO NOT COME HERE. Like most of you reading this review, chances are you are searching for a decent vet in TJ because you consider your pet to be part of the family. You've taken your pet to a vet in SD and have reached the conclusion that if you continue those visits, you will eventually be broke.
Our dog has a skin condition that was getting on our nerves and also causing him much discomfort. We ended up at this place because it was the closest vet to the border and our driving is limited in TJ.
Upon our arrival we were greeted and asked for our dogs information. Five minutes later, in the consultation room, the vet began to examine our dog. After asking us routine questions he proceeded to going into a room only to come back with a syringe. I felt like things were moving fast so I decided to ask the vet questions such as, "what are you injecting my dog with," and "how much will this cost." In a sarcastic tone his response to my second question was: "one thousand five hundred dollars." Ummm, okay. Obviously that was not going to be the cost, but it was the underlying message that bothered me. A message that I interpreted as, "I will charge as much as I have to and I am sure you will be able to afford it." Things only went down hill from here.
We asked if there were any other alternate treatments and he seemed bother by the question. I hadn't experienced such bad customer service since Kinkos (you know that copy place way back then). Anyhow, the vet pretty much told us that the treatment was going to cost what it needed to cost. Also, he gave us a recommendation: "If you want to try an other place, you can take your dog to a barn and pray for the best." Thanks, doc.
Without even asking us first, the vet asked the girls at the front to ring us up in dollars. There was something about his assumption that we were going to pay in dollars that did not make me feel assured. This vet also suggested we compliment the injection with pills. And by "suggesting" I mean practically pushed the treatment without really explaining what the pills were all about. We decided not to pay for the pills because we had been fed up with his rude attitude.
To conclude my rant about this bad vet experience, our total cost was 400 pesos (consultation & shot medicine). Our search for a better vet in TJ will continue. Even though this visit was fairly inexpensive, I would much rather pay more than deal with a rude, sarcastic and unprofessional vet.

I had to vaccinate my puppy, so I called Dr Zoo and they were gentle enough to wait for my arrival after business hours. He checked my dog as well and only charged $15 for the vaccination. I have called before a Veterinarian here in the US and they wanted to charge for the consultation plus vaccines $85

I have so much respect for this veterinary and his personnel. They were attentive, assisted with dental work on my 2 Chihuahuas (Nena & Gummie), prices are amazing, they care more about the well being of the pet than they do of the money. You can't beat that. I traveled from Los Angeles where I was quoted $1200 + for dental extraction alone and not to mention no teeth cleaning. This Vet charged me not even 1/4 of what I was originally quoted here in L.A. I even offered to pay for any additional costs and they denied additional charges. WOW! Who does that now a days?! My two fur babies made it home ok and are now happy dogs. I checked on their teeth two days later as they were healing and their gums and teeth are healthy white and pink. I can't say enough good things about this vet and his personnel. They are truly amazing and very professional handling your pets. They answered every question I had regarding taking them home and what I should give them for pain & food. The location is a bit hidden but call them and they will guide you. Should be a piece of cake to locate them with directions. They are located in a private lot in front of a grocery store that by my bad memory I do not remember the name. Best of luck to you and trust me you will be happy with their service on your pets.
Mil Gracias!
