Volg de lessen van Bikram Yoga Amsterdam gedurende 15 jaar. Therese en Rik blijven met een toegewijde en integere aanpak aan de top samen met hun leraren.

This Bikram yoga studio has a very friendly and down to earth vibe. It’s a special place and definitely worthy of a great review. I love that there are so many great instructors with such different styles. They run through the same 26 poses but they explain them in different ways, so I’m always picking up new tips which keeps it interesting. It’s run in English and Dutch. It’s super clean and there is a peaceful garden full of bamboo trees that makes you feel like you’re in Bali …until you step back outside into the Dutch winter. It’s a great way to keep fit and it definitely keeps you sane. Check out this little oasis in the heart of the DAM. You’ll love it.

Small and can be crowded but therefore social bikram studio. Lovely patio with pond in the back. Class style depends on instructor, which varies greatly.

We went with a group today to try it. I left with mixed feelings about my experience at Bikram Yoga.
First able, I thought the woman who welcomed us was particularly rude. She was very snappy and talk to us a way you would talk to pre school kids and 'forbid' us to be next to each other to prevent us constant ''chit-chat". I thought it was totally inappropriate to assume so. Then she asked insistingly with what felt of an accusatory tone to one of our friend if she'd paid and even if our friend confirmed it twice, she kept making a dubious face that felt like she didn't believe her or thought we were trying to trick her.
Further on, the teacher didn't stop talking during the entire lesson. Do this, do that, it felt to me very robotic and impersonal and with speed like we where on the clock and not really a guidance. Really tough to follow and experiment the postures when you start. I knew most of them because I followed similar yoga courses before but my friend where a bit lost. I think it's regrettable that the teacher don't explain the postures as well, don t even give the names of them or why we are doing them (what s the effect of the body and such). It really felt like an intense workout rather than yoga. I missed all the spirit consciousness of it. The vibe of the room was off as well to me, I can t explain that very well though. Also, at some point one my friend keep sitting down, and although the teacher explained that it we normal to feel dizzy, I still was worry for a sec and felt the need to ask her if she was ok but immediately the teacher intervene with a very snapy 'she is ok' which felt more like don t disturb my lesson please rather than 'don t worry'.
But, on the physical side, it was really intense and I felt good after it I reckon that for sure.
In conclusion, I ll say if you are looking for intense workout thing this might be the right place for you (but I wouldn t call this yoga) , if you are looking for a spiritual yogist human experience I would advice you to look for another place. There plenty yoga schools with open and warm people.
