Old fashioned hotel with out any modern trimmings. Noisy, small room, staff are not very attentive. Breakfast is very poor.

Bit old, but everything's working fine and it's a good place to stay. Restaurant has a few options, but really good ones!!

Tiny rooms. I've stayed here dozens of times with work, once spent a week here. On a few occasions I've had to step over the toilet to get to the shower. It's massively dated. The stairs are stupidly steep and the lifts really slow and should be in a museum. Things are just awkwardly layed out, like so that you try and open a cupboard door and it hits the bed frame. Beds are stiff and the springs can stick in you. The room temperature never seems to be right - too cold in winter and too hot in summer. The lighting is very dim so at night you strain to see in the room. I assume this yellowy glow is in keeping with the style of the place and trying to match the feel of having candles in the days before electricity.
It's well positioned right next to Den Helder Station which is handy, however it does mean a lot of street noise if you have the window open to try and cool down.
Years ago the food was really good here but nowadays it's seemed to have slipped so I tend to eat elsewhere.
On a positive note, on the whole, the staff are nice enough, most rooms now have a decent sized flat screen HD TV and the free WiFi works well enough.
I believe that the same family run Hotel Den Helder which is a 2 min taxi ride or 10min walk down the road. This in my mind is a much better hotel, with more space.
I will stay here again and again as many offshore companies book here, I assume they get a good deal. It's still better than a lot of boats and offshore rigs so compared to there it's not bad at all but if you're a leisure traveller then i'd suggest that you keep looking.

Was booked into the hotel by the company I work for, rooms are fine clean and a good size, food is good and staff friendly, weather was great so sitting outside the front with cold beer was nice.

Not so bad.
For sleeping and to avoid the bad weather in North Netherlands is ok.
Parking is just in the back and the train station just in front.
Well comunicated to the city centre for a walk or to go shopping.
