For me Academy Gold Cinema is one of the best little secrets Christchurch has to offer. Great choice of films (not your run-of-the-mill shoot-ups or sugared romances), small intimate cozy theaters, good choice of wine, coffee, and/or ice cream, and great service! A great pick-me-up! Ah, and what about Met operas and London National Theater programmes? Art series? Thank you, Academy Gold!

It's a nice Theatre apart from one thing. It's always stifling hot. My friend and I have to take our battery operated fans with us. Not everyone likes the heat pump going.

Quaint theatre. Small cosy theatre. Leave top part of ticket on car to avoid ticket. No popcorn but great ice cream. Arty films. Great staff.

Lovely intimate cinema experience. Really pleased to be given a ticket for the car park along with the movie ticket.

Very cozy place for catching a movie. Not the place to get the latest and greatest image and sound quality and the theaters themselves are also quite small. All of that doesn't matter too much if the movie is good, though.
